My daughter will be 10 months old on the 22nd. She will NOT drink formula anymore. She is only taking 6 ozs. a day now. I offer her bottle before we feed her but she will only drink a little bit then she cries. I am not going to force her to eat. Then after she rejects the bottle she continues to cry so I offer the bottle again and she still cries. After all of that she still cries so then I feed her solid food. Then she is happy. I have tried formula in her sippy and she throws a fit. I put water in the sippy and she drinks it. I am concerned about her getting enough calcium liquids and nutrients. I am going to call her doc but I love to get other mommies opions too. Thank you all for your help.

I would talk to your pediatrician and ask if he or she will approve switching to whole milk. My daughter stopped nursing when she was 6 months old, and although she would take pumped breast milk from the bottle, I disliked pumping so I didn't last very long. I tried to switch her to formula and she wouldn't drink it well, her ped reluctantly suggested I try whole milk and she drank whole milk from 10 months on. If she is already having foods in her diet that have milk in them, the chances of her having a milk allergy are slim. Also you might try a liquid vitamin for babies, they taste nasty, but its not a large amount you have to get down her.
Lots of luck!

my daughter is 12 months and at ten months we went throught the same thing. She wanted milk and that was that. We switched her to full time table food and whole milk and water. Our dr was pleased that she was ready. It took a bit longer with her bottle overnight. By her birthday three weeks ago she was completely done with the bottle. At her one year check up, dr said it wa great. Most kids make it a battle to get rid of the bottle. We count our blessings that it was that easy. She's telling you she's ready to switch. Listen to her. Milk, fruits, and veggies are going to give her what she needs instead of formula. You'd have to take her off it in two months anyways. Don't make a battle out of nothing.

I agree, it's no problem at all. Just make sure you are giving a variety of foods and it will be okay. Some foods are calcium enriched like cergain brands of orange juice.

I had DS off of formula and on regular table food completely by 9mos. He was an early starter like that in a lot of ways.
He (still) drinks water all day and is perfectly happy with that. I rarely give him juice - it's a treat for him. I just made sure I gave him a lot of dairy to make up for the calcium. He loves cheese and yogurt, so that's what we did. I did start giving him milk at 12mos, which he didn't care about, but between then, just regular food and water. Even now, he gets milk first thing in the morning, and that's it.

Don't worry too much about. Give her a wide variety of table food options, and she'll get the viatmins she needs that way. Her diet is going to change so much in the next few months that the problem will solve itself.

My son was the same way. He didn't want formula after about 9 months. We ended up switching him to whole milk. Good luck on finding something that works for you!

My youngest was done with formula at 10/11 months. I wasn't concerned and neither was his doctor. If she is healthy I wouldn't worry about it as long as she is eating other food.
