Hi,
I don't know if it has no formaldehyde but the other specs seems very eco correct. "Sparrow Crib" and "Baby Moses Basket (Organic)" also has a rocker- all can be found on giggle.com

Hi!
Can anyone recommend a nice, simple, smallish formaldehyde-free crib or bassinet? I am due in Sept. and we live in a pretty small cottage. I don't want to get a Hummer crib and I also heard recently that the formaldehyde used to glue the wood together can be very strong and possibly be behind some child allergies/asthma. (What isn't these days???) Love to hear some ideas.
Thank you!

I used an Arm's Reach co-sleeper crib. It was nice having my son right next to me, but he wasn't physically in my bed. He was literally inches from me. He slept in this until he was 4 months old and then we moved him to his big crib in his nursery. The Arm's Reach is made from metal and cloth, so I'm sure that it meets the requirements you have. They have several different models; mine was able to fold up and travel too. I bought mine at USA Baby. Here's their website: http://www.armsreach.com Finally, congratulations on your new baby. I just had my son in December. It's a wonderful adventure!
I cannot promise it is eco-friendly, but the Arm's Reach co-sleeper is excellent! It is plastic, and I don't recall what the mattress is made of, but I believe they sell organic cotton sheets that fit. I had the mini version, which lasted until baby girl was 4 months, at which time she was too long and would wake herself up. Not sure how much bigger the regular version is.
Congrats, and good luck on your bassinet search!
Hi C.,
I had the same concerns so we got the Stokke crib because it is solid wood and non-toxic stain. It's a little expensive (my MIL got it for us :) but well worth peace of mind. I'm frankly baffled that ANY furniture is made with formaldeyde - a KNOWN carcinogen - let alone baby furniture.
Hope that helps!
M.
PS. The Stokke is also good for small apts because even when you get the complete set (bassinet to crib to toddler bed to child's bed), it can fit through doorways. A plus when you want to have the crib in your room for a while and then transition it to their own room - you don't have to take it apart and put it back together!!
Go to Little Seeds on Larchmont Blvd, LA. They sell all cribs, toys, clothing, etc. organic and eco-friendly. It's a beautiful little store. (not cheap, though!)
Unfortunately, I can't help with this info because my kids are now teens and I'm out of that loop, but since it sounds like you're paying attention to eco-friendly and healthy products, let me know if you'd like me to show you Shaklee's nontoxic cleaning products. They work great and can save you tons of money.
Congrats on the baby coming!
