My friend who has MS had similar problems when she would run. I think a good physical could put your mind to rest. The doctor could check for circulation issues and nerve damage, etc....
For the moms that are runners, has your foot/leg ever gone numb during a long run? Mine tends to go numb after 2 miles or so then I have to slow down and walk and wait for the feeling to come back. It's a tingly feeling. I hate it when running and I fear my foot/leg will give out on me:( Was wondering if something is wrong with me, my shoes, or what? It did go away for a period of time but now it's back.
Thanks Moms! I am slightly worried and will bring this up with my doctor. I had trained for a 10K last year and during that training it did the same but after a few weeks went away. I took a break and am now training for the National Half and it's starting worry me again. I'll definitely get it check out.

Please go to your family doctor or neurologist, numbness is often a symptom of something else. Remember that Knowledge is Power. What you know you can work with, what you don't know can be causing bigger issues.
Good Luck
I ride a recumbent bike in my basement and my foot would go numb. I started riding for five minutes, then getting off for two minutes of stretches (AFTER my muscles are warm) and then doing the rest of my workout. I also bike slowly for 5 minutes at the end and then stretch again, as well as put my feet up on the wall (back on floor) for a few minutes to prevent the blood from pooling in my legs. It has done WONDERS! I still suggest seeing a doc, but perhaps as our bodies age they need a little more TLC. Good luck!
That's odd. Nothing like that has happened to me so I don't have experience, but could it be some sort of pinched nerve up around your hip flexor?? I wonder if stretching it some more or in a certain way would make a difference? I was just mentioning it since it can affect your leg all the way down. Just a thought? Good luck with it! Sorry you have to stop and stretch right when you're getting in your groove! Feel better! :)
I have a couple of ideas - it might be your shoes if they are too tight. Maybe that foot is 1/2 bigger than the other one and the shoe is too small on that foot. As one of the other commenters said, it might also be a pinched nerve. I had a problem last year with numbness in my thigh. It started after a run but was constant for many months. I went to a neurologist and he did some tests. In the end they were inconclusive but his diagnosis was a pinched nerve up by my hip flexor. He said it wasn't a big deal but I felt better having had a dr look at it.
I suggest you discuss this with your doctor. 2 miles is not a long run so I wouldn't think that you should be experiencing this at that point. When you said long run I was thinking 10-15 miles. And even then, I don't think you should have that experience.
That happened to me a few times, and I was talking to another runner friend, and she said that it happened to her, but she kept on running, and ended up with a fracture. I'd go into a local specialty running store and see if they have any thoughts.
