So, last week we dealt with my four year old acting as if her princess bat was a pogo stick and she inflicted a cut to her private area on the inside, near the top. The cut is no longer appears to have swelling or any redness, however, it looks like it's turning into a scar? It's almost more like the it was more of a small tear rather than a cut, but the dr said it was a cut. Anyways, just curious if scarring would be normal or if it should heal the way it was? I plan to call her dr tomorrow and find out, but wanted some input tonight? She has also been complaining of it itching and I always heard that, that is a sign of healing? Anyways, just wanted some input from you Moms? She is my first so all areas in Mommy hood are new to me and I am learning as I go. Thank you so much for your time.

Jo W: I know, it's just I wanted to make sure that scarring is normal? I've been putting neosporin on it per her Doctor and I noticed today that it just looked more like scar tissue.

What can I do next?

Well for one I don't think it will scar. Even if it did who would be looking down there?

I wouldn't make a fuss about it, the fuss will probably have a more lasting effect than the injury itself.

So far as injuries go I was a gymnast for five years when I was young. You injure yourself a lot between the legs whether it be hitting the unevens wrong or for me missing on the beam. :( No lasting effects.

Aww, I'm sorry your daughter got hurt, especially in such a sensitive area. My oldest got a cut/tear on a potty when she was 2 years old. It was about the width of my index nail and just awful to see. It healed with no scarring and no problems. Be sure to let the doctor know and see what he/she says. Best wishes.

my 4 year old fell on a toy and cut in between the folds. i would put neosporn on it at night. she has a scar there now and she is fine. she did say it itched a little but i told her not to scratch it becuase it could get infected and i didnt want that.

to be honest I never had to deal with a cut there. On myself or my 2 girls. Though my daughter once scrubbed too hard there with a wash rag full of soap and she couldnt urinate for days with out screaming and crying. I too took her to a doctor that mentioned as the small scratches heal it may itch. That not to use anything on them but be sure to let it get air a couple times a day. So I let her go naked for a hour at a time through out the day. She was 3 when she did that. Maybe some air might help getting in there.
