If you are poor (especially during these months) there is an awesome program that gets you good quality foods for only $25.00 a month. Here's January's menu to give you an idea:
(6) 5 oz beef filets, 1.5 lb boneless pork roast, 2lb fully cooked frying chicken, 2lb salisbury steak entree, 2 lb boneless/skinless chicken breast, 1 lb meatballs, 16 oz bean soup mix, 26 oz pasta sauce, 16 oz pasta, 7.5 oz mac/cheese, 24 oz french fries, 16 oz green peas/carrots, 15 oz diced pears, 14 oz peanut butter, 8 oz pancake mix, 1 dessert item, 7 oz brown n serve sausage.
This is designed to feed a family of 4 for 1-2 weeks and a senior citizen for a full month! (I'm sure we all know a senior who is having trouble living off of his or her $500 a month social security pension! or a family who may need a little assistance.)
There are also add on packages that are just as awesome for only $18.00 (These are only available if you purchase the $25.00 box).
In the southern United states, order dates are Monday, January 15 and pick up at the distrubution site is January 27/ northern states the order date is January 2 and pick up dates are January 13.
Consult the website for your distrubution site... the one in this (my) area is the Lutheran church on Western Center.
They accept food stamps, and there are no qualifying forms to fill out. I know not everyone is in poverty, but for us, 2 college students with a baby, every little bit helps. If you are not in need of this, pass this on because odds are, someone in your network could desperately or even just a little bit need this. The website is :
This is a non-denominational, volunteer only, not for profit organization. There is no catch, they give you a pamphlet about God in your box of food and that is about it. If you don't make the January order deadline, don't worry it is year round so you can order for February or whenever. I am not affiliated with this program, but I do know a couple of ladies who have used this (one was newly divorced with 4 children!) And they both said the food was really good and it is really easy to get started. The website is easy to navigate and if you have any questions you just call the host center in your area. I truly hope this can help someone... heck, I'm going to buy a $100 freezer and fill it up for a little food storage... If anyone has any questions or other needs, just let me know, I'm always trying to help out my fellow sisters!!!
*** oh, there is no limit to how many $25 boxes you can order, and no paperwork to "qualify". All you need to do is order, and bring a box to the distrubition site on the exact day. This is year round also.
Thanks so much for the advise, I'm sure that I would take advantage of this also. I have a family of 4, and I'm the only queen in the house, so food can get a little expensive around here. Expecially poultry, we spend well over 400.00 dollars a month for food, and that's with a budget. With one income this information is heaven sent. Thanks for being so thoughtful

OMG, I can't even begin to thank you for this information. My husband and I, even though we live with my mom and stepdad, we cook 3 nights a week, buying our own food to cook, and with only one income right now, sometimes we can't even afford that. Most of the time, it costs us about $15-20 for each night. My husband only gets paid every other week, so by the end of the second week, just before payday, we usually only have about $30 in the bank.
And this won't only help me. My in-laws struggle as well. They have 6 mouths to feed and only one income, as my mom-in-law stays home to care for her very sick mother who lives with them. They live in the Kaufman area, which I see also has a host site. I'm going to tell her about this as well. It will help them tremendously. Thank you so, so much!! God bless.

Dear Lisa,
I need you to know what your post has set in motion. I was very moved be the promotional video in the angel web site, and emailed it to some of my closer friends at Church. One friend that we both have felt in the past that we were called to work together, in some aspect.
Long story short, I have a meeting with our pastor today, and we will take in to the board of the church ASAP.
The Church is Chapel Creek Fellowship, on the west side of Fort Worth, Texas. No doubt they will approve, they have a very Large Heart for community service. One of the main draws for me to join this Church. I LOVE service, it just totally fills me up!
Not to mention that I am a full time single parent of 3. This is going to bless us and all our friends in so many ways.
So, Thanks for your post. You were, and are an instrument of God, truly.
