Hi moms, so yesterday i went power walking, nothing new..been doing it for years, but within two miles of walking my right foot started to hurt . I blame my shoes. every once in a while my shoes will "bother" me. But not all the time, its weird. I've always had problems with walking shoes, all walking shoes hurt me in some way. But i usually ignore the pain bc its not severe. well yesterday the pain was too much i had to stop walking and now i can't put my weight on my right foot, it still hurts. "Lateral plantar" is where my pain is on my foot. I have no idea what to do, any suggestions ? Should i wrap something around my foot to tighten it up??

What can I do next?

Well have you gotten new shoes recently? Everydone does walk differently using different parts of their feet in different ways, so if that area is where you put a lot of pressure then it could have just worn out your shoe in that area and it's time for new ones.

I would suggest going to a shoe store that will test your foot and give you orthotics if necessary. My husband and a few others I know have had to do this (and shoot, I probably should too, just haven't done it yet) and it's made a world of difference. You can still get normal shoes there and they carry a variety of running/walking shoe brands. It is a bit more expensive but I think it'd be worth it if you have recurring problems.

That's right on a nerve.. could be you pitched the nerve?? you may need to just rest it. I doubt you need to wrap (that might make it worse)
also, as someone who has had foot issues, in my case, Sesamoiditis.. (causing the ball of my foot to ache) I can tell you that stretching my feet every day has helped tremendously... If when you are sitting try and web your toes all apart... and hold them that way then release.. do that a few times. you might find they cramp up at first (as you will realize that in fact our feet do get VERY tense) then just keep doing... you'll have less the cramps the more often you do and your foot becomes more relaxed.. again, this has helped me sooooooooooo VERY much...
as for shoes.. I currently wear asics.. with a gel insert.. so far, it's helped as well..

best of luck

That happened to me awhile back, I thought my feet were broken they hurt so bad. I went to the doctor, had and xray, and they told me it was plantar fascitis (sp?). I was told to wear only very supportive shoes, no sandals, no barefoot. I would go to your doctor and have your feet checked out. You may need some sort of orthotic inserts to support your foot correctly, no matter what shoe you wear. Best to have the doc evaluate and go from there.

Maybe it is the way you walk... not the shoes.

Many people, walk incorrectly.

You could get PT for that.
Try asking your Doctor.
