Foot Pain??? - Macomb,IL

The last few days my daughter has been crying uncontrollably for about 7-10 minutes and telling me that her foot has a boo boo. I have not noticed her hit her foot or trip over anything before she cries. There are not any red marks or anything else on her foot.
Any suggestions as to what could be the problem? The only thing that I thought of is that maybe her foot has fallen asleep, but I am not sure what I can do for her.
I have given her some tylenol and a foot massage. But this is the third time that it has happened in the last 3 days. Any suggestions would be great.

Take her to the doctor; it could be something medical. I had that problem when I was a child (I also have a heart condition) and the doctors thought it was in relation to my heart. The pain would shoot from my thigh down to my knee and sometimes from my knee down to my foot.

Good luck!

I know it's been a while since you posted this, but for some reason, just came across this! Anyway, I used to get foot cramps whenever I would grow. My toes would squeeze together and my feet would be in horrible pain! If you can get her to walk on her toes, tippy toe style, that can help stretch it all out. That's the only way mine go away. Otherwise I like the previous posts about checking with the doctor in case it's anything medical. Good luck!

Hi, the same exact thing happened to my son (2-1/2) 2 weeks ago!. For about a week (probably 4 times), he would wake up in the middle of the night and scream and tell me his foot hurt. I would look at it, and didn't see anything, so I would just rock him and all that. (he won't take Tylenol unless I force it down him, so I figured it wasn't worth trying)!!!! I personally truly believe he was having growing pains! They say they happen in the middle of the night, so that is what I think it was cuz' he was find during the day, and knock on wood haven't had any 'mysterious foot pain' the last week.

Good luck to you!!!

It kind of depends when this is happening. If it's in the middle of the night, it's probably foot cramps/charlie horses. It could also be growing pains. My daughter suffered thru these for almost ten years off and on. You may want to go to the doctor, although if that's what it is there isn't much they can do. Foot massages are the best for it, since you don't want to be loading her up with tylenol or ibuprofen all the time. A medicated/menthol rub is good too.

Could she have a "hair sliver?" My son was upset that his foot hurt for a couple of days like that, and when I looked at the spot really closely, with a flashlight, I found a tiny hair sticking out of his skin. I pulled it out with tweezers and the pain went away. The only reason I thought to look is I am a dog groomer and I get hair slivers all the time. We have a dog with hard hair that sheds and one of them went right in there!

Check that.

Otherwise, it could be that her foot is falling asleep. Or she could be growing. But check for a sliver.

She may have struck her foot on a door or bed post and the bruising could be inside. Maybe even a small fracture.

Hi R. Take your daughter to see her pediatrican to see why her foot is hurting. Maybe it something going on internally.

My 4 year old daughter will cry about her foot being "spicey". What that means is she sat on her foot, and it fell asleep. This may be the foot pain your child is experiencing.
