Hello- all Mamas!

I am looking for a great recipe to make cinnamon french toast sticks. I have a fussy 3 yr old that loves the ones out of the box.
She will not eat french toast unless they are crispy stix!
They are breaded which makes them crunchy...so I need a recipe that has the crunchy outside.
Also any cereals that you can reccomend? Most have sugary and junk in them...so I only use them 2 month.
She is so fussy and will not do cherrios , raisen bran, or peanut butter ...
Thanks for any ideas to use on my fussy lil child!

What can I do next?

Try www.allrecipes.com for the french toast sticks. The recipes are rated, so you know which ones turn out the best.

Cereals....I buy the EnviroKids cereals-I think that's the name. They have a jungle look and have a koala bear of gorilla on them. (are usually on sale quite a bit) You can get chocolate krispie-types. They don't have refined sugar, but cane sugar. My kids LOVE Honey Bunches of Oats. I would never have guessed it was a favorite, but it is. We only do sugar cereal on special occasions or for a treat. I just tried the Cinnamon Cheerios and I really like it. What about a corn flake cereal or crispix, then put cut up banana, blueberries or strawberries in it. It might do the trick to get them to eat healthier cereals.
Good luck!

First, regarding the French Toast sticks. Try making them with Hawaiian bread (the loaf style) or a loaf of Challah bread. They are both a richer bread and will make extra tasty French Toast sticks. Dip the slices of bread in beaten egg and milk, then in cinnamon sugar and cook as usual.

For a cereal idea, you might consider buying a cereal your child likes (with all the sparkly marshmallowy goo), and then buy a neutral cereal (puffed rice, puffed wheat, Chex, Oatmeal Squares, etc). Get a big Tupperware type container and mix your own cereal. Make the proportions appetizing to your child but not unhealthy, maybe 2 cups of the healthy stuff to every 1/2 cup of the sugary stuff? Or more or less, depending on the taste. You could even start out almost half and half and then decrease it every month or so. Decorate the Tupperware container with stickers or with her name in bright letters with a Sharpie, and maybe she'll like having her own cereal created just for her. Give it a fun name!

Try coating them with a little bit of cinnimon and sugar maybe after cooking french toast normally. Then maybe bake them with the coating and that may crisp them up. I am not a great cook so maybe trying the website mom4s gave you too.

The envirokids cereal is great. You can find it in the natural food section at places like Fred meyer or it may go by Kroger over on your side of the states. Be careful though. really compare sugar content from the health section to the regular cereal isle. I was buying the natural food variation of ''lucky charms''...my buddy did some comparison shopping and we found out real lucky charms had like 5 less grams of sugar and was all around btter then the stuff from the natural section. have you tried breakfast bars with her? or yummy oat meal she can put toppings on??

Hope this helps even a little...my kids love frosted mini wheats too now that i think about it. those are crunchy, and full of fiber:)
