For my daughters first birthday, I made Mexican food.Tacos, beans, rice, chips and cheese, and some other things.

Every birthday party I've been too, seems to always have the same thing as the others. So, I wanted something different.

I had 70 ppl come to her first birthday party, and I had to have A LOT of food. My mom tried to talk me out of Tacos because of the cost...but suprisingly it was cheap.

For my son's first bday, we did Subway sandwiches. For his second, we ordered pizza and had it delivered to the park where the party was. For his third, we didn't serve lunch - just snacks. All three parties had chips & dip, fruit, and veggies to dip. Plus, cake of course! It was all really simple.

What about cheesburger sliders? Or mini pizza's? Or chicken fingers and fries? 2 years old is fun :)

I usually do a fruit tray, a veggie tray, and a sandwich roll tray. I get the sandwiches from the grocery store, it has some turkey, some ham, and some roast beef. Something for everyone.

My daughter's 2nd is coming up too. I figure at this age, the kid just goes with the flow, so we're doing carne/pollo asada BBQ. Since it's right after Chirstmas and she's so young, I'm doing a new thing and asking for no gifts and please bring a side dish. (She will have a few presents from family to open anyway) and that way we can enjoy the day with more of our friends w/o going broke on food.

For our sons 2nd birthday last year ( he will be 3 on the 10th, so we are deciding on food too ) I had a fruit tray & dip, veggie tray &dip, variety of chips including nachos, and a crock pot of shredded chicken and another of sloppy joes.

It really depends on the time of the party. We do our parties from about 3:30-5:30 to avoid a main meal time. I do chips and 7-layer dip, veggie platter, some kind of cheese and crackers for kiddos and cake and ice cream. We try to keep it simple. :)

My daughter's 2nd birthday I made PB&J and Meat & Cheese sammies and cut them out with shaped cookie cutters....then we had a fruit plate w/ yogurt for dipping!

My son's first b-day, we had Pat and Oscars cater (Meals for 6 turned out cheaper than their catering prices), second b-day, I got a meat and cheese tray and rolls so people could make their own sandwiches or the kids could just have a slice of meat or cheese plus we had veggies, fruit and chips and salsa. His 3rd b-day, we ordered pizza and sandwiches from Costco and had nachos, fruit, two salads, and goodies that both grandmothers made. (That one was a shared party with a friend)

We go to tons of parties and the kids have fun and don't care about food. I just had a new year's eve party and got pizza. I am not a fan of crazy sugar boy so I always load my son up on veggies before we go to parties then I don't care if my son eats junk because it will balance. One we just went to had a huge bowl of Mac and Cheese (talk about good deal!) The kids ate it of course with fruit! She had cheese and crackers and hummus for parents. I don't expect a nice meal at a kids party... don't sweat it! :)
