My 11 month old daughter does not have any teeth yet. Are there suggestions for safe finger foods that she can eat which do not require the use of any teeth? Thank you.

What can I do next?

I am having a similar situation with my son who is 14 months. He has about three teeth. I have been giving him mashed potatoes, well cooked peas, small well cooked pasta, small pieces of tukey, chicken, well cooked and soft and diced pieces of fruit, mashed a little. I watch him closely at meals and he does well. townhouse crakers and pieces of graham crackers he really enjoys. hope this helps you D.

My son is almost 14 months old and is just getting his third tooth. He is able to get all of his nutrition during the day from table foods. He no longer drinks bottles or eats any baby food during the day. I have found that as long as you break things up into small enough pieces they will be fine. My son is able to eat anything from meat, cheese, fruit, cooked veggies, crackers, etc. It can be a scary thought giving your little toothless wonder table food, but as long as you give them small pieces and watch closely they will be fine with just about anything.

If your daughter can pick up items with her fingers, the Gerber graduates has several flavors of ravioli (sp?). You could cut them in half. That will help keep protine in her diet. Any fruits should be OK too and like peas. You may even be able to give small portions of very tender meat.

If you are afraid of choking on meat, there's an item you could by at babies are us or the toys r us baby section for like $9.99 I forget the name, but you put food in it and turn the crank and it will cut very small peices. it will acutally smush up any food you put in it. I used that when introducing my son to eating regular meat, because he didn't have much teeth, but I wanted to graduate from baby food.

I would try anything that can be mashed with the gums. Well cooked pasta, mashed potatoes, applesauce. Before my son had teeth he also ate a lot of graham crackers and soda crackers and cottage cheese.

My daughter also had no teeth at that age and she still at almost anything that wasn't to chewy and certain meats. She could eat mashed potatoes, cheerios, pasta, french frys, cheeseburger pieces, veggies, fruits I was just extra careful and she did just fine. I thought my baby was the last baby in the world to finally get teeth when she finally got them but the good part is my daughter is in kindergarten now and she's also gonna be one of the last to lose her teeth. I'm in no hurry to have her lose her baby teeth yet.

As long as the food is in small enough pieces that your daughter won't choke, she can gum just about anything. A baby's gums are pretty tough. Let her gnaw on your finger for a minute and you'll get the idea.

I also used the little mesh pocket thing that looks somewhat like a pacifier. You can put food in there and your baby can chew on it and get the flavor without worrying about choking on small pieces. I've seen them at Target and grocery stores so you could try that too.

My little girl is just over 10 months without any teeth as well. I feed her (obviously everything I break up) banannas, waffles, pancakes, rotisserie chicken, any canned vegtables carrots and peas are the best, crackers, cheese, she loves the gerber fruit puffs, cheerios. My doctor told me at her nine month appointment to not wait for teeth, just feed her anything in small pieces that could be broken down, so I've really given her little bits of all kinds of things.

My daughter also had no teeth at that age. Her pediatrician said that she could eat pretty much anything that she could mash with her hard little gums. The teeth that we usually use for chewing (molars) are some of the last to come in, so having teeth really doesn't make that big of a difference at that age. And like another post mentioned, those little gums are plenty powerful! I just made sure that things were in small enough pieces for her and I didn't give her anything too chewy. Small pieces of cooked vegetables, softer fruits (cut up grapes, soft apples, bananas), cheese, etc. worked really well at this stage because she was able to pick them up and feed herself. Now that my daughter (finally, at 18 months) has a few top teeth to go with her bottom teeth, she can eat bigger pieces of food because she can use her teeth to take a bite of something a little larger. Good luck!
