I have a family member that is allergic to Tomato's , Mushrooms, dairy. I hesitate from making pasta sauce for every other reason. Does any one have sauce recipes for a variety for dishes.

What can I do next?

Maybe you could just do a "sauce" of some chopped up veggies that are cooked down like zucchini, onion, squash?? That is a tough one. We do a burned butter sauce but I guess that's out too! I read (a while ago) about a vegan sauce of eggplant and something from Rachel Ray, maybe if you check out the food network website you might be able to find it if you search for it. Good luck!

I'd do a pesto like sauce w basil and ground pine nuts (or almonds) for both pasta and pizza. Just sauteed veggies with pasta is good too. Annie's makes a pizza for those who don't eat dairy that has a pesto sauce and carmelized onions on top. We tried copying this and it was delicious!

what about good old fashioned garlic and olive oil?
If you want butter, whole foods and even publix sell dairy free "butter" - I forget the name brand, but I used it when we did elimination diet for my son

darn - i was going to recommend an alfredo but that can't work because of dairy......

is it ALL dairy or just some dairy? you can use butter and flour for a very simple base - but you'd have to add stuff to it.....if the family member is an adult cousin or someone other than your child - ask the person who typically cooks for them.

I would also consult with a nutritionist or a dietician - they should have some great ideas!!

I don't eat tomatoes often, instead I make a sauce from some macrobiotic recipes that you saute squash and beets with some oil and yummy herbs then you add a whole bunch of water and cook for about an hour. Later put it in the blender to get rid of the lumps. It's really yum and so healthy!

Saute onions and other thinly sliced vegies (broccoli, carrots...) in a large pot. Add cooked spaghetti and pour on vinagrette salad dressing to taste. Mix thoroughly.

Make a beef gravy sauce: Melt margarine or heat 2-4 Tablespoons oil. Add 2 heaping Tablespoons flour, mix and heat til a little bubbly. Add beef broth, 2-3 cups, heat til it bubbles and thickens stirring with a whisk. Add thinly sliced beef strips, like leftovers from a roast. Pour over egg noodles.
