Do you remember my question about my late property tax payment? Well, I applied for a penalty refund, because my son was injured during the time when the property taxes were due. I was really distraught about the penalty because I am always on time with our payments and the penalty was over $500! Anyway, I appealed it and got our refund! Just wanted to share because I think that sometimes it's worth the effort to see what the outcome will be!
Thank you for all of your encouragement =)

Good for you.
I am surprised they gave you a refund but I am glad they did. If you had a history of being late, there would be no way but you obviously have a good record with payments and your history proved that you were honest about why you were late.
It never hurts to ask the question and you never know if you will get a representative who is kind enough to see your point of view.
Food for thought, I have been told "no" many times by hotels, airlines, etc and I've found that once you are told "no", don't fret, wait a while, call back, get another representative and eventually, you may get someone who gives you a break. I have received a refund for non refundable airline tickets before and it took about 3 phone calls and reaching 3 reps to get one with a heart!!!
That's fantastic!!!
I took my car to the dealer because I had a bulb out. They replaced it and told me I needed new brakes, pads etc. I went home and called the place that does our car detailing and they are charging me almost half the price of what the dealer was charging. I canceled my appointment with the car dealer and they called me back to ask if they could give me another quote. Thanks but no thanks!!!
Never hurts to ask!!!
Good for you! Make sure you keep all the paperwork for this because if they do an audit down the road they may question the refund you received and ask you to pay it back with interest.
Good for you! It never hurts to ask when it comes to such matters. The worst that can happen is they say, "no." Glad you followed up.
:)
So happy for you!!!!!
Good for you - squeaky wheel and all that! (And $500 is ridiculous by the way!)
Congrats, and WOW, what a hefty penalty! Ours was a $50 penalty when I forgot to pay.
I'm so glad it worked out for you!
That's awesome. I did wonder what would happen so thanks for the post.
