I posted yesterday about vacationing at Disney World....thanks to all that responded, I had a lot of great information offered. My next question is..I have a will be 3 at time of travel and a 4yr old, do we check carseats for flying? Do I need carseats? We are planning on taking a taxi from the airport to the resort and then traveling around by monorail or bus. If we do decide to rent a car, is there a place to rent carseats?

Thanks so much

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks to all who posted! We decided to have a car pick us up at the airport and deliver us to the resort. I requested carseats and got them with no problem! Thanks again!

I live overseas and fly back and forth to the States and other countries with my 14 month old several times a year. If you aren't renting a car I wouldn't take them. If you are, I suggest buying carseat bags for your carseats and checking them for this reason: You now have to pay for your luggage at the ticket counter but carseats fly for free. I put my carseat in the bag that I bought from Babies R Us and there is plenty of room to stuff the bag with other stuff like a backpack or toys or whatever then I don't have to pay to check that stuff. If your luggage gets lost like one of the other moms said, you may want to make sure that the car rental place has them available as a backup. Taxis won't have them, but the resort should pick you up and you won't need a carseat for their bus.

We flew last month with our 3 yr old. We checked his car seat. We arrived, but our luggage didn't! We had to borrow a car seat from American Airlines until our luggage arrived, then drive back to the airport to get it. I would check the carseat when you get on the plane, not check it in as luggage to be stored with your suitcases. Just my opinion. Have a wonderful trip.

If you arrange for a car to pick you up at the airport in advance you should be able to ask for carseats, if you take a normal taxi waiting in the queue outside the airport they probably will not have carseats.

I know most car rental places have them but I have always taken our seats when we would be needing them.

You won't need car seats for the monorail or bus. I am sure the car rental agency rents car seats. The taxi thing I am unsure of. If you are going to be at Disney the whole time though, their in-park transportation should get you everywhere you need to go without car seats. Usually the resorts will pick you up at the airport.

Enjoy your trip.

I don't know about taxis, but I know that if you are going to rent a car you can always ask them for a carseat. It's an extra charge but they do have some for rent. Have you tried going thru the web to check the requirements for taxis?
Have fun on your vacations...
