Flying with Children

This summer my husband and I are taking our children (7 yr Boy, 5 yr Girl & 2 yr Boy) to Disneyland in California. We are talking about taking our carseat for our 2 year old. He is familiar with that and maybe he will feel more comfortable riding in it. Does anyone have any suggestions about flying with a 2 year old? I am not too worried about the other 2. We have stuff for them to do. Thanks.

What can I do next?

We took our 2 and 4 year old to Disney World last summer and did well with just the regular airplane seatbelt. We brought his blanket with, a few toys, snacks and one of those little DVD players so he could watch a movie. Between the movie, snacks, toys and a short nap with his blanket, we did just fine...I'm sure you will too! Good luck and have fun!! :)

Rent a CARES harness off of ebay. It's much easier than lugging a car seat through the air port. I packed crayons, coloring book, games. My daughter fell asleep most of the times we went to WDW. For us a umbrella stroller is still an essential for getting through the air port. My doctor recommended using benedryl but we never used it.

We traveled with our son right before he was turned two and the carseat was a life saver!! Not only did it make for a comfortable place for him to sleep on the plane, but it gave mama peace of mind! I thought of it in this way... I would never put him in a car without a carseat, so why should he go in the plane without a seat? It was kinda a pain to lug through the airport, but really it was all worth it in the end. As far as entertainment snacks, snacks and more snacks!! Movies, crayons, new little toys, books and his favorite snuggle item. Have a great trip.

Make sure he has something to drink on take off and landing to help his ears pop. Pack plenty of snacks. We don't leave home without a drawing board (Magna Doodle). It's great for flying--no worry of dropped crayons or running out of paper. Take along a couple of tiny cans of Playdoh. Lots of fun for a little guy, especially if it's new. Have a great trip!
