Flu Symptoms?

I went to the doctor yesterday and they diagnosed me with bronchitis, ear infections, and sinus infection. Well now that I am home, I started getting the chills. Hot one minute, cold the next. I took my temp and it is 100.8 My legs are a bit sore feeling, especially when I shiver. I have no energy now and I can barely talk from coughing. I do plan to call the doctor in the morning if my fever is still present to see if I need to come back in. But for those of you that had the flu, does this sound anything like it? I have been sick for 2 weeks now and it really is getting old.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for the responses. So far this morning I haven't had any fever. I don't feel as sore but still lacking alot of energy. My doctor did give me an antibiotic so maybe it is kicking in. I will give it some time since I haven't had the antibiotic in me but just a few days. Thanks again =)

The worst I ever felt was with bronchitis so I would say it can give you all those symptoms plus the ear infection gave me chills and all of it together is probably what's going on. Give it time to see if it gets better. Did the doctor give you an antibiotic?

My son had a minor cough on Friday. Played outside on Saturday morning. Had chills, low grade fever and aches in his legs by Saturday night.
Sunday, we waited it out... fever went up around 102. Cough was yuckier. With Motrin, the fever went down, he took a shower and was up wanting to play/work-out on exercise equipment. Midnight... fever was back, coughing was very bad. Went to doc Monday morning first thing.... had double pneumonia with 42% lung function. Swab culture was negative for flu.
Use a humidifier if you have one. Go back to the Doc tomorrow if you are still running a fever.

It sounds like it. My husband recently had the flu and at first he just had a low grade fever of 100 or 101. Next thing we know he is really sick running a high fever. He said he was so sore it hurt to move. And he was freezing to death even though his temp shot up to 104.9! I would definitely suggest going to the doctor. The flu is nothing to mess around with.

This website should help you.
http://www.tamiflu.com/about/coldflu.aspx

Unfortunately, not all viruses are flu. But, most have similar symptoms. And, antiviral medications such as Tamiflu only work when administered within the first 48 hours to help abbreviate the duration of the viral infection.

I'd also recommend checking the CDC's website for H1N1 symptoms:

I had that... and I had pneumonia.
It started with a cold.... then turned into Bronchitis... then more severe Bronchitis... then I had fevers and chills & body aches... and then bloody mucus coughed up.... then I went back to the Doctor... and I had PNEUMONIA.

I had to have antibiotics... and 2 inhalers.

Your symptoms are that of an infection...

You need to go to the Doctor. At least in my case and symptoms.... that is what happened.

All the best,
Susan

Are your symptoms getting worse? Your symptoms do sound like bronchitis. You really have to watch it to make sure it does not turn to pneumonia. If your cough worsens and is not productive, if you don't have the energy to walk across the room, call your Dr. If you have the flu, generally your fever would be much higher, and if it is not caught right away, you have to just ride it out. Tamiflu only works in the first 48 hours of it. Bronchitis can take a while to get over, and is no fun at all. Just be aware of your symptoms and if they get any worse, then go back in.

My husband and I had this same thing, minus the bronchitis. It will go away in 2-3 days. Take some asprin or pain reliever to get your fever down, & sleep alot.

Sounds exactly what my husband had.....!!!!

But being a man, he was too "cool" to go to the doctor and he "toughed it out" at home.

Oh, and I wanted to send greetings to Manhattan, KS....I lived there for 3 years and looooooooooooooved it..........nicest little town I know !!!!!!!!

With all of that, you will fill like poop! Take your antibiotic until it is ALL GONE. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and drink plenty of water.

yes, the fever/chills/body aches can accompany bronchitis...which can go into pneumonia. This happens about once a year for me. It will mimic the flu.

Once you get the antibiotics in you, you will feel better. Give it about 2 days. BUT that cough & chest pressure that accompanies bronchitis will continue for weeks! You may also require a 2nd round of antibiotics to fully kick it. Sometimes I require a nasal spray.....& even steroids to recover. You may also need a codeine cough syrup, an inhaler.....etc. Bronchitis is NO laughing matter!
