Floor Covering That Doesn't Shed

I have a wool rug that sheds all over. My son is crawling like crazy and now he's covered. Any suggestions for a floor covering that is soft and easy to crawl/walk on for a 10 month old?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for all of the wonderful advice. So many great ideas and I appreciate it so much. New children's store just opened nearby so I'm going in to touch and feel. Thank you!!!

I got the Skip Hop play mats. They are a little on the expensive side for rubber mats, but they look so much nicer than the cheaper ones!

R., do you need a rug? I have learned recently that a rug is more dirtier than we think. A carpet is worst than two packs a cigarette for children. See if the landlord knows what is under the rug and if it can be without a rug. If not, talk with him or her about changing it becuse of the affects on the baby and so forth and see what other responses from other moms. Let us know how it went and I'll pray for you to have wisdom from Jesus Christ.

I really like Burbur - you can get the extra thick ones with the larger loops and they soften really quickly - but hold up to a ton of wear and tear. You can order whatever size you need.
Also, if this is for a play area, a friend recommended the Skip Hop Playspot. Really nicer looking play tiles that can be arranged to your liking.

we got carpet tiles and we love them because if the baby spits up or spills we can pick it up and clean it very easily.

More expensive, but gets MUCH better reviews is Children's Factory mats. I think I might suck up the cost and get one because I have hard wood floors that are constantly covered with dog hair and reviews say that the Skip Hop mats pick that stuff up like a lint brush...

R.,

Cork tiles make a great floor for kids...it makes for a clean surface, that has a bit of 'give', so comfy on crawling limbs, and is very easy to clean...especially food spills.
