when i flew to cancun last summer, i paid about $500 a person for 2 people. and i did a lot of digging online for bargains. i just found it to be about the average price.
Are there any travel experts out there? We're renting a condo in Cozumel this summer and flights are running around $550 per person. Does anyone know if there's a better time to book flights (i.e. when the cost of flights will go down)? We need 3 tickets and the lower, the better. We're not so concerned about lay-overs as we are about price. Thanks so much!

We flew into Cancun last May for $250/pp. The catch was we had to leave out of Austin. We also had 3 and an infant so it was cheaper for us to drive down and catch the flight there. The service is ok, we flew Viva mexico, but it was a lot cheaper!!!!
I've heard that there is a price war going on right now. Obviously the earlier you can book the better. Also, try and book on a tuesday/wednesday when rates are a little cheaper.
First I must say that I am NOT an expert, but I do have a quick question. Is that flight for $550 direct to Cozumel? If so, check flying into Cancun, driving/taxi to Playa Del Carmen & take the ferry to Cozumel. I have been to Playa several times but we always use Worry Free Vacations (& I've tried FunJet). $550 sounds high to me.
Air service to Cozumel has been seriously curtailed, hence higher prices. For sure, compare prices flying to Cancun and taking the ferry from Playa del carmen
