Flat Iron Question

Chi, chi chi! it is, by far, worth the money. i have used all braqnds, and while some are good, none do as good of a job as the chi. good luck!

Okay, I'm 32 and I've been using a flat iron since the very first actual flat iron came out, I would say around '88-'89. I started out with the conair since that was all that was available. The conair was fine for me and I used it until it burnt out (bout 5 years) and then my mom bought me a higher end one in the middle of high school. I burnt that one out too. I then got the chi which is by far worth the money, I'll tell you why. there's a reason they are expensive. The cheaper ones you find for $20-$40 are made with metal plates which damages your hair horribly. Your hair has a tendancy to fry on the metal, where the ceramic lets it glide through and is shinier I think. The chi also allows you to adjust the heat setting, for straight hair, you probably wouldn't need a real high temp which can be damaging on thinner hair. Lower temps is less damage. In my case of thick hair I need the higher temp setting to get it straight, especially in high humidity. I can use the lower temp in the winter which I love. I don't think you can do that on the cheaper ones. I would say splurge, it's your hair!

I love the CHI too. And it can be used on straight hair as well. I will give it a shine and tame any flyaways. Just be sure to use a protectant on your hair first. There are sprays out there that you just use on your hair before straightening it. You can find them at Sally's or Ulta.

if you use a flat iron on straight hair it will make it straighter and it will also smooth the frizz but you have to make sure that you use a thermal protectant to protect your hair from the heat. it doesnt really matter if you use a chi or not. ceramic is much healthier for your hair and most flat irons are ceramic now days. i use one by a brand called andis it is a professional brand but they also sell it at walmart. it works great and you have diffrent heat settings to choose from. iknow that everyone is saying to splurge on an expensive iron but i have been in the hair business for a few years now and the price really doesnt make the diffrence.

I have a Chi and its great. It doesnt fry my hair and I'm able to get my waves out and have stick straight hair. My husband got it for me last Christmas at JCPenney's salon.

I have relatively straight hair and I use a flat iron. Its great! I don't have a very expensive one... but its better than the one I used to use. The one I currently use is the Remington Wet to Straight. It can be used on wet hair - though I personally think it does a much better job on dry hair. I know a lot of the ladies suggested using the CHI flat iron. I have never used it. But if you just want to try something out and not spend a whole lot of money, the Remington Wet to Straight does a great job. It costs about $30 at Ulta. I use the one with the wider strips not the narrow ones.

I don't have straight hair...BUT I can tell you about my iron and my friends who have all used it.
It's the CHI. You will spend over $100 for it unless you can get it on sale. But it works wonders on both curly AND straight hair.
My one friend has thick straight hair down to the middle of her back. She used to think the same as you...that they're for curly hair. She LOVED it so much she went and bought one. As did several of my other friends.

Flat iron is great on straight hair. It leaves it very shiny but the type of flat iron is very important. I have 2 irons, they are both very expensive but great. I have tried the cheap irons and they do not compare to the expensive types. I have the Paul Mitchell flat iron and it is great and I also have the H2pro. They are worth the money but you might want to try a cheaper version just to see if you like it and then upgrade. You can get the CHI or other good ones at Ulta, try it and if you don't like it, just return it. Their return policy is great.

I use one too, although I have a cheap one from Walmart. It helps to smooth the hair. My hair is straight but it has just a little bit of wave in some places and also likes to flip up at the ends, so the flat iron keeps it in place. Definitely second the recommendation for a protectant. There are a lot of them out there.

I have straight hair and I use my flat iron everyday, cant live without it!! Mine is just a Conair from Walmart, I think for like $20. Cheapie, but it works great!

Yeah, they work on straight hair too. Just be sure to get a ceramic iron..

I have the coppy hair cut and straight hair I use one all the time. I also use it on my girls hair who have staright hair. Just gives the hair a better shine and keeps the static from our hair. I do not own a fancy one I bought mine at walmart almost 4 years ago and I love it!

I love my flat iron. Be careful though it can burn the ends of your hair if to hot!
