Hi, my name is S. and i would like to know if anyone else has been through this situation. I have been suffering with RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy) for about 7 years now. I am 5 months pregnant, and have not been able to take any of my medications (such as demerol and relafen) for pain. I am increasing trying to have a smile on my face for everyone so they dont worry, but i am hurting alot. I also have alot of doubts as to whether the weight i will be gaining (9lbs so far) will effect my mobility. Has anyone been thru something like this and if so what hhave you done to lessen the pain and make it more tolerable. Tylenol doens't work so i dont take it. I want to be the best mom i can be, but i'm afraid that i wont be able to manage the pregnancy much less the first few days without medication. I have been told that i can't breastfeed (though that was my plan) if i decided resume taking my medications again. Anyone in Brownsville,Texas know of a yoga place or something that i can go too..
thanks for your time

Hi S.. Sorry to hear about the RSD. I don't think I had ever heard of it before, but I just did a search on the Internet related to some recent medical discoveries I heard about a while back, and I thought you might like to look at this link:
http://www.glycostory.com/testimonials-search.asp?categor...
(You can only listen to one testimony without paying, so go to the bottom of the page and click the one that mentions RSD.)

You can read more about these glyconutrients on my website: http://www.getbetterhealth.org. If you want to try them, there are a lot of different places that make and sell them, but IMO the best is found here: http://www.mannapages.com/sharethegift/MPComingFromSAA.as...

Hope this helps!

Maybe you should talk to your doctor. There is a pain medication called "Toradol". Its not a narcotic but it really helps with the pain. It wont make you feel real grogy or doped up. Its good stuff.

By the way, you are very lucky to be living in Brownsville. My husband does a lot of work there.

Hi S.,
An Acupuncturist could help you through your pregnancy and your pain. I suggest that you ask around and find one that helps pregnant women regularly.
Good luck,
R.

My friend got horrible headaches before and during her pregnancy, her doctor said it was fine for her to take demerol , she just couldn't take it too much. Ask your doctor if you can take it for days you hurt REALLY bad.

I know for sure that you can take Lortab and Percocet while your breastfeeding because that's what they gave me in the hospital. They gave me Percocet in the hospotal but i didn't like the way it made me feel so when they sent me home they gave me Lortab. I only breastfed for 8 weeks but I was definitly breastfeeding exclusively for the time i was on the meds. Maybe they are safe for pregnancy too. Talk to your doctor. If you are in severe pain he needs to give you some options. If he won't listen or work with you I'd find an OB who could be more empathetic.

Hi S.....I don't know anything about your condition but I took pain relievers during my last pregnancy and know of others who took pain killers safely during pregnancy. I was given Darvocet, however it did not help my pain. I suffered extreme pain in my lower back due to herniated discs and the position of my baby. My sis n law was given Demerol during her pregnancy, for kidney pain. I was also told, after giving birth unfortunately, by a lactation nurse that there are many pain relievers that can be given safely. Speak to your doctor, or a lactation nurse of maybe you can do some research on the internet. Maybe you can see a physical therapist as well. I saw one who taught me the proper way to stretch and exercises targeted for my condition and the massages were heavenly too! Good luck to S....please let us know what happens.

Oh wow, first off I pray all goes well. Now as for my advice, it may seem lame but in your situation I would try anything. Alot of people say to stay out of hot water and tubs, I don't believe in this for I did it and my daughter is healthy and fine. Take a few minutes and soak in a spa, I took hot bubble baths everynight I was pregnant for my back pains. Professional massages work great too, not cheap but sometimes it doesn't matter. Icy Hot or Tiger Balm also works great for all sorts of pain too. I wish I had better advice but all I can give is my on experiences. Good luck!
