A.K.
I really like getting books for close family & friends . It's something they can keep forever. Just get a real girly book & write something sweet in it.
Ok all of my sisters and myself have boys. BIL's girlfriend is due any day now. Its a girl. What would you want. I know she needs sheets for the baby crib and also nipple gards (where do I get them). I have told her I would get these for her... But what do I get baby? Its a girl... I am lost!
ETA- I do get the privlege of making her baby blanket.

If you would buy it for a boy, you can buy it for a girl just go with girly colors.
Baby legs! Used them all the time on arms and legs with short sleeved shirts or skirts. Easier than tights and adorable!
Clothes are always nice because babies grow so fast. I buy the bigger sizes because most people buy the little ones so it gives them something for when the baby is older. Generally though I like to make my gifts. My third grandneice is due in May so I was looking on pinterest for a gift I could make. I found a three wheeler made from diapers. Much cuter than the diaper cakes. You could always make a blanket with fleece. Instead of doing knots though, cut wider strips and gather in the middle; it makes cute little bows. I was thinking of doing that or embellishing some onsies.
How exciting! I have heard from other families how exciting it is to have a child of another gender at last!
I can't say I bought anything simply because my DD was a girl, and a girl is exactly what I wanted. Babies all seem to need the same things.
Kids can share a lot of things between genders for a long time (until the cooties start growing). In fact, right now she's having a play date to play trains with a neighborhood boy. She's not into pink, and she's not a big fans of dolls, either (and I saved my old doll house for her!) Toys don't need to necessarily be different.
Making the baby blanket is indeed a privilege. That is wonderful enough to receive.
I do remember LOVING these summer sleeveless onesies with a skirt. I think Carter's makes them. Those will probably be out in February or so, or maybe they are available online.
Have fun!
My go-to gift is a stroller blanket in yellow or green, monogrammed with the family's last initial (so it can be used for future babies too). I don't think you can ever go wrong with that.
She'll need girl clothes/onesies/bibs/infant socks/crib stuff etc.
Get things that are pink.
Unless she is into neutral colors.
Is this their first child? If so, then she won't have any baby things nor girl things. So, onesies or infant sleep gowns are essential and LOTS of diapers!
I also LOVED my "Boppy Pillow" for nursing or feedings.
I love those socks that look like Mary Janes. As Kindered Spirit pointed out, those onesies that look like dresses are great. And you can never go wrong with a super-cute pink hat!
Stay away from dresses with Peter Pan collars - they are cute, but in infant sizes, they are too little to lay flat, and when they flip up it's very aggravating for baby - and anyone trying to take her picture.
Also, for my niece, I got her a charm bracelet. Every year on her birthday, she is getting a new charm from me, that has to do with what is going on in her life.
Congrats Auntie! You will love having a niece!
It's been awhile since I shopped for those things, but I think you can get the nipple guards anywhere, really.
If you feel you need to something extra besides the baby blanket, a little "My first baby" would be nice. My daughter, who's 8, still has the one she got when she was a baby. It has a little rattle inside.
For Christmas I wanted to get my first niece (she's 4 1/2 months old) something special so I got a recordable story book at Costco and my girls and I recorded our voices reading the story to her. You can also record special messages. I did that since we won't get to see her too often and I wanted her to at least be able to know our voices.
Robeez shoes and a copy of I'll Love You Forever or Goodnight Moon.
baby girls need the same thing baby boys do. CLothes, bedding, maybe a few toys, high chair, swing, bounce seat, car seat. I have girls so I know. It gets different when they areolder and more so whenthey are teens. Babies really don't care and it really doesn't matter much. You could do something like get her a portrait sitting for pictures of the baby. That is important for memories for families.
Baby girls need the same things as baby boys :) All babies just eat, sleep and poop. If you want to 'girl' it up, get some of the necessities in pink!
Diapers were/are always my favorite gift. Don't think I would've asked anyone to buy me nipple guards tho...or nipple anything lol
