I'm looking for a really cute outfit for my son's first birthday. I'd like it to say something about it being his first birthday. I've looked online a bit but can only find customized items for $70 or so (I'm not going to pay that for something that'll just get cake and icing on it). Does anyone know of a place that sells something like this? His birthday is 3/29 so I'm kind of in a rush. Thank you!

For an inexpensive, but customized t-shirt, do an iron-on. Design something in word, or use free clip-art from the internet. If you don't have a quality color printer, take it to Kinko's to get the iron-on transfer printed.
I think a great t-shirt and some fun socks would make a fantastic 1st birthday outfit.
I know of a Birthday bib from Current Catalog, it isn't a whole outfit but it's really cute. You can personalize it too with your son's name and birthdate.
Just go to www.currentcatalog.com, the item number is 082135.
Th fastest way to get something cute is to get some iron on sheets for you printer, print out something cute from a graphics program, include his name, and iron it on a blank onsie. It will look adorable in photos and if you want you can do matching bib.
You can also do cool stuff like trace around his hand, or use marker to mak a footprint, scan that into your computer and print it out for the shirt.
We got an outfit with socks and a bib and a birthday crown at Babies R Us over the summer!
I make my children's holiday clothing and special outfits. For my eldest's first birthday we bought an iron-on applique from a craft store (like JoAnns or Hobby Lobby) that had a cupcake with one candle. After ironing it onto the center of a plain white tee, I used fabric paint to write, "I am ONE today!" around the cupcake. It was simple, cute and easily destroyable without wasting much money!
Have fun shopping! Happy Birthday, Evan!
ETA: I also make custom T's if you like that idea. Here is a link:
