How about a look alike doll. I had one made of my son and daughter in their baptism outfits. That way that have an image of what they were like at that age.

My best friend is going to do pearls. Most of our local jewlery stores will sale the necklace and then at Christmas, Birthday, or a special occasion you can go and buy them a pearl to add to the necklace. The point of it is by the time they are about 18 to 20 they will have a whole stran of pearls. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

I wanted to do something special for my niece too. Because I knew she would always be lavished with tons of toys and clothes I decided to build her a pearl necklace. Brombergs has an Add-a-Pearl program where you can buy a starter necklace with 1 pearl or however many you want really and then each year you can purchase additional pearls (again however many you want)and have the necklace restranded. By the time my niece is ready to graduate from highschool or maybe college she'll have a complete pearl necklace. You can choose from the cultured pearls or natural pearls. If you want to spend less the cultured pearls are much cheaper, but if you want to go all out you can go with the natural pearls which are much smaller but much more expensive. The pearls are on sale (20% off)in December and May.

Dolls are a cute idea!

Another idea is to get them each a savings bond! People do that for my sons each year...they add up, and will be great for them to have in the future!!
