We have a close friend who is originally from Louisianna. We would love to surprise him (and his wife) with a nice dinner out! Being as how he is from Louisianna, I know he will be looking for something "authentic"!!! Does anyone know of an affordable, YUMMY place that would work? I'm not opposed to driving to Atlanta or anywhere relatively closer than Louisianna! Thanks for your help! :)

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone for your help! We decided to go with Henry's in Acworth and they LOVED it! They couldn't get over how great the food was and how much they liked talking with the chef!

Just saw an ad for Di Ju Bute (I know I spelled that wrong - sounds like the name of the country) in Marietta off Whitlock. The food looked good, especially the po boys.

Six Feet Under, with locations in East and West Atlanta, also has really great Po Boys. The 11th st. location has amazing patio views of Atlanta.

Henry's or Chef Henry's I can't remember the exact name is in downtown Acworth. It's very yummy - with a bar and restaurant setting. Henry himself is always visible to the customers circulating around making sure everyone is enjoying themselves and the food.

NOt sure where you live but people drive from far away for Gumbeauxs in Douglasville and the previous cook there has opened a place called Gabes in Villa Rica or Millers in Carrolton. Pappadeaux is really good if you like chains

Hi, H.!
Not sure what part of town you're in, but I have heard great things about Henry's in downtown Acworth. We have not had the pleasure of going yet. I know they get really busy on Friday and Saturday nights; you need to go early. And they are closed on Sundays.
Good luck to you and enjoy your Cajun food, wherever you go!

My husband and I moved from Louisiana two years ago so I know what it is to miss the food. Henry's which is in downtown Acworth is really good. They have a website but I don't know it off hand but you can google it. Enjoy!!

The BEST place, hands down is AJ's Seafood & Po Boys in the East Lake Shopping Center in Marietta. It's tucked in a corner, near the Kroger's.
The staff is friendly, attentive without being bothersome, and the food is the best. The menu is small, and still provides lots of options. There are some things not on the menu, but available, such as grilled shrimp or grouper, etc. You'll be greeted when you walk in, and thanked for coming when you leave. In between, drinks will be refilled (non-alcoholic) without asking and they'll check if everything is okay, etc. Then you'll be left to enjoy the food.
This is a small, neighborhood type place, so casual dress is fine. It gets busy on a Friday or Sat. night, and worth the wait for a table.

Have a great time with your friend!!
