we are SO EXCITED to be expecting... two positive tests (plus no period, plus really big hurty boobs) confirmed it... BUT, i don't FEEL pregnant. the first two times i was preggers i had morning sickness (and the second time i had a small bump almost right away)... but this time, aside from my breasts, i dont FEEL pregnant, and im VERY worried about it. it might just be normal anxiety, but i dont know! i cant go to the obgyn yet bc my insurance hasnt gone through with my new job (it will take about another 2 weeks, which is fine because that is around when the first available appointment is anyway)... POINT IS, has anyone else felt like this?? is this normal?? i have a pretty stressful job, i really dont need the added stress and constant worry. thoughts??

What can I do next?

Not everyone gets morning sickness and not everyone gets it with eah pregnancy. Generally, morning sickness doesn't kick in until 7 or 8 weeks anyway. When I was pregnant with my son, I had a little nausea around 7 or 8 weeks, but that was it for morning sickness (and that may have been more nerves than anything because we were on vacation with my in-laws and were keeping the pregnancy a secret at that point).

I didn't "feel" pregnant until I got to hear the heartbeat for the first time and we started telling people (around 11 or 12 wks).

Try to relax as stress isn't good for you or the baby! :-)

Congrats!

I also felt totally fine and "not pregnant" with baby #2 for the first couple months. Then the morning sickness and misery kicked in and she made up for it big-time. Enjoy your "honeymoon" phase while it lasts!

Hi R.,

I had the same thing happen to me. My first pregnancy had ended in miscarriage, so when I got pregnant again and didn't FEEL pregnant at all, I was very worried. I think I was about a month into it (maybe less) when I called the OBGYN and told them how worried I was that I had no "symptoms". They had me come in for an ultrasound, and everything was fine. I had a smooth and wonderful pregnancy after that. My daughter is sitting on my lap as I type this! By the way, I was at a very stressful job as well and that also contributed to my unease with everything. So, I hope this helps put your mind at ease a little. I wish all the best for your pregnancy and hope you will soon find out that all is well.

I know exactly how you feel! I was pregnant with my first child in 2005 and had NO symptoms. Nothing. I was convinced that something was wrong. I went in for a sonogram (I was 42, so I had a lot of sonograms) and everything was just fine. The nurses teased me about wanting to be sick! Try to relax and not worry.

Call your HR person - usuallly, you are covered from day one of your job, and your HR person can give you a group number for the policy. I have also found tha tmost OB-GYNs will see you and bill you while you wait. It would be worth it for peace of mind.

Perhaps you are expecting a boy this time - no mrning sickness??

Congratulations!!! Each pregnancy is different, try not to worry. After 12 years of trying, we got pregnant on our 11th anniversary :) I knew the very next day, literally, I just knew I was pregnant. However, several weeks later, all the signs and symptoms of pregnancy just stopped...disappeared all together. I immediately called my obgyn who brought me in that day for ultrasound, everything was fine. I found throughout my entire pregnancy that some days/weeks I "felt" pregnant and some days/weeks I didn't. My obgyn basically said that our hormone levels increasing rapidly are what cause the "symtoms" of pregnancy, and my blood work showed that my levels took a slower more gradual rise than most women. In fact usually the hcg levels almost double every few days in most women, mine only increased by a few hundred each test. I am happy to report my perfectly healthy baby girl is now 2 & 1/2 years old and all is well. Try not to stress...stress has horrible effects on you and your pregnancy.

Every pregnancy is different, as I am sure you've heard a million times. You are going to have different symptoms. Some have bleeding through one pregnancy and none through another and still have two healthy babies. Maybe you were sick with your two girls and this one you aren't sick means you will have a boy =) Who knows. I say enjoy not feeling sick..enjoy the pregnancy. If you are really concerned about things, tell your dr when you go for your appt. They might do an u/s for your peace of mind.

Good Luck and Congratulations!! And TRY to Relax~Stressing isn't going to help matters at all! =)

R.,
This is my 3rd pregnancy (15 weeks), and I've already had the morning sickness twice the amount of my other 2 pregnancies together. The 1st one - boy, 5 - I didn't have any sickness. I was in back labor for the last month, though. I had him when I was 33. The 2nd - girl 2.5 - I got sick once, but chalked that up to, I thought maybe she didn't like the SlimFast I'd had for breakfast. This 3rd one, I understand about the "not feeling" pregnant. I've been sick a couple of times. The first time, I had been juice dieting, and the 2nd (at 14 weeks) was maybe feeling "sympathy" sickness for my 2 children, b/c they had had flu for 3 days, but I was 1000 miles away, as they were at Grandma's, and I was fine with and hour. But, I don't get the "butterfly" feelings that I had with my other 2. The ones that every so often reminded me I was pregnant. I also didn't have kids that kicked or moved around a lot. So, mostly relied on the "butterfly" movements. Both are cute as can be, and the 5 yo is really exhibiting quite a bit of intelligence. So, don't worry too much about not feeling sick. God bless you and your child-to-be.
J.

Worrying really doesn't help - you're under medical care so let them worry for you. All I can say is that I have only been pregnant once. It took me 15 years and finally happened at 42. We found out we were having a boy. I had the hurty boobs too but nothing else. I felt better during that pregnancy than I ever did in my life. I've spoken to friends and they all felt like I did when carrying boys. Something about it that is different than carrying girls. I don't know what - I don't know why. But maybe this one is a boy. And every pregnancy is different anyway - don't worry - be happy!!! And let us know what you're having - it would be interesting to know if this theory holds up! Blessings, S.

Don't worry your self. The same thing happened to me w/ my second pregnancy. Each pregnancy is different. However, I would recommend reducing your work stress immediately. You may also be able to stop in at a free clinic in your area if you have serious medical concerns - if your insurance hasn't kicked in already.

Every pregnancy is different...there are many theories as to why but the one theory that makes the most sense to me is that depending on which side of your uterus the egg plants itself you either will be sick or not. One side of your body holds more stuff that the other, so if the egg is on that side, you feel sick. If the egg is on the side that holds less stuff, you feel better. I have three kids and felt sick for the first two...not the third.

Dear R.,
Please don't worry. I have 3 beautiful children now ages 19, 17 and 11. All of my pregnancies were very easy and really joyful. With my first I was ill only once in the early weeks of pregnancy and that was it. I had never felt so healthy in my life, and I kept an eye to good nutrition more so than ever. With my second, I had no complaints either, but my son was bigger -- 10 lbs at birth. The last couple of weeks I had a little heartburn and that was it. With my third I did feel a little woozy mid way through and that was it. Some of us are just lucky I guess. Enjoy your pregnancy and congratulations!!!

I can sympathize as I am newly pregnant too and have the same worries. I have a daughter already and felt I wasn't so worried with her about the pregnancy. I think it's probably just b/c we have children and know what an amazing gift and how much joy they bring to your life you dread of something happening to the pregnancy. I'm just trying to take it one day at a time and remember that in 2-3 months we will both be feeling pregnant. Don't stress yourself out.......plus I always feel better once I've done the first OB visit. Hang in there soon enough you'll have your bump!

Hi & congratulations

Your not alone in worrying that your not pregnant...I felt exactly the same with my first , aside from the missed period and several positive tests I had no symptoms and felt 'not pregnant' and worried all the time that I was imagining it!! It wasn't confirmed for me until I was 15 weeks when I heard the heart beat(I'm from England & we don't have sonograms until 20 wks)!!

But if you are a little worried then take a couple more tests just to tripple confirm & 2 wks will go by in no time and you can have it cinfirmed for real!

Good luck

K.
