About a week ago I noticed a lump in my left breast. I went to the doctor and she told me to get an ultra sound. They just called and said it's Fibroadenoma. I have done my research but still a little worried. I need info and advice from anyone who's been through this before. My doctor told me they will need to do another ultra sound in 6 months. Is there a chance this will go away on it's own or do I have to learn to live with it? Can it turn cancerous or just a constant annoyance? I don't feel pain so I figured it should be okay. Still I need to feel at ease and find more about this. Thank you!

What can I do next?

I had one about 3.5 years ago. I was referred to a breast surgeon (oncologist) and had it removed within a few weeks (maybe a month) of me finding it. It was a relatively simple out-patient procedure. He told me that fibroadenomas are generally harmless, but that hormones can make them grow OUT OF CONTROL -- especially during pregnancy -- so it was better to get it removed. It was also nice to get the lab test they did on it after it was removed which gave me a 100% comfirmation.

I had the same diagnosis several years ago. Found the lump, got an ultrasound, had a biopsy, was told it's a fibroadenoma and not to worry about it. I was told that the chances of it turning bad was next to nothing. Didn't need to have it removed---end of story. It did cause a LOT of anxiety though!

Hi M. - Try cutting out ALL caffine and (yes its no fun) processed sugars (high fructose corn syrup). I had the same diagnosis and my doc suggested that and my "lumps" went away within a few weeks. Good luck

I agree with what has been said so far M.. I was diagnosed about 20 years ago. Never had anything removed, was told to watch my caffeine intake if it flared up. Also told hormones and stress can aggravate it. Other than that basically harmless (although uncomfortable at times) I go for years without it bothering me and then.....usually stress brings it out temporarily. Yes it is scarey when you are 1st told, but its pretty harmless.
