I have to say, I agree with Miranda, vaccines can be alot more dangerous than Dr.'s like to tell us. Of course they are probably told the vaccines are fine and safe too, so they aren't try to hide anything from you. There are many "possible" issues/illnesses that occur sometimes with vaccines the main concern being the presence of thimerosal (containing mercury). Here is a website where you can see the actual amount of thimerosal in common vaccines: http://www.fda.gov/cber/vaccine/thimerosal.htm#t3
Now, I'm not saying a kid should get NO vaccines, although I know some people do believe that, but my choice with my son was to pick and choose the shots I thought were the most important, (such as Hep B, small pox, Measles) and give them 1 shot at a time. I've never allowed my son to have more than 1 shot at a DR. appt. I've heard too many stories like yours of children getting very sick after vaccinations or even showing autism signs and other severe reactions, IMMEDIATELY after recieving their shots. These can't ALL be coincidence.
Did you know that vaccines are one of the LEAST tested medical products? Anyways, it is a hard choice to decide what to do. Risk your child to known dangerous diseases by not vaccinating? Or risk all the unknown chemicals in the vaccines that have been "possibly" connected to autism and definitely connected to a huge increase in the amount of mercury in our children?
The FDA has ordered Thimerosal to be removed from all new shots being made in the U.S. and by now, most shots should be Thimerosal free, so the risk is less. And for every parent, the vaccination choice is a personal choice. I would never tell anyone they shouldn't vaccinate, I mean, these are a lot of dangerous diseases we are trying to prevent! And I was vaccinated as a child and I believe I'm okay :)
But we are exposing our children to even more vaccines now than then, and health issues are increasing. All I can say is, maybe next time, limit the number of shots given at one time, or get a certain vaccine in a single shot, instead of in one shot with multiple vaccinations in it. These multi-vaccines seem to cause more problems. Even if it means making a few extra appts to get all the shots you want, maybe it would be easier on your childs immune system to get one at a time.
I can't give you any advice on the fever, as my 3 1/2 year old has never had one, but I hope your son feels better soon. It could very well be unrelated to the shot, or he could be having a common reaction.
I really hope this didn't sound too preachy, and I truly believe every parent should make their own choice in an educated manner, whichever way they go. I wish you and your son the best.
