When I took it, I had to take much more...I don't remember how much more though. I am thinking at least 9 pills each day though...
A few weeks ago I read here that you can take fenugreek to increase your milk supply so I order it and I started taking it last week. I’m only taking 2 pills twice a day and it seems like it has increased a little bit. Now I have some questions for those of you that have taken it. things.
How long should I take it? Is it as long as I’m nursing?
Should I be taking higher doses?
How much water should I be drinking?
I would aprreciate all your input

i took 3 pills 3 times a day.. but the only bad thing is that you start to smell like maple syrup (if you havent already)... like when you sweat and stuff...

This is a good guide to increasing milk supply.
Hi! My postpartum doula recommended I use this as well. I have used it twice, once when the baby was born and again when I felt my milk supply was lower. You really only need to take it until the supply is up. There's no need to keep taking it. Just simply keep it on hand in case you need to boost it up again :)
I would drink LOTS of water b/c this alone helps to increase milk supply, and keep you from dehydrating. There's definitely a direct relationship between milk supply and water intake.
Also, my milk and even perspiration started to smell like the Fenugreek while I was on it, but my baby never seemed to mind it :)

I took 3 pills 3 times a day and it dramatically increased my supply. Also, you need to drink a ton of water. Literally double your water intake - it really does help (and it is good for you).
Just keep nursing that baby - if she is gaining weight and peeing and pooping, you are making enough.
Hi A.,
I took fenugreek to increase my milk supply too. I took 3 pills 3 times a day. This is what my lactation consultant suggested. It worked well for me. Also, if possible you will need to nurse more often. Increasing the amount of nursing you do will increase your supply! Good Luck
Both my son's pediatrician and my lactation consultant said to take it as long as I needed and that it was safe. I think it just depends on your situation. I believe it can help temporarily boost your supply if needed, or you can take it indefinately. But you probably need to take more. You should take at least 35000mg/day. Check out this site for more detail: http://www.kellymom.com/herbal/milksupply/fenugreek.html
Good luck.
i think it is great that you are breastfeeding. i had to take fenugreek with both times i nursed i didnt stop taking it because i was affraid my milk supply would decrease and eventually it did anyways. i took the supplement 3 x a day 2 capsuls. if i felt like my milk was decreasing i would have some mothers milk tea. good luck and when it comes to water drink as much as you can i would drink a minimum of 8 16.9oz bottles a day. as well if you have started exercising or eating less i would reccomend not exercising and eating more. i know it is frustrating to not be able to loose the last 10 or so pounds but i couldnt keep my milk supply up unless i left my weight about 10 above my pre pregnancy weight.
Hi A.,
I also take Fenugreek and I take it 2-3 times a day. I have been taking it for almost 3 months now. I am leary to stop for fear of my supply decreasing. You mentioned water. This is KEY! Drink as much water you can. The more water, the more milk! I also just notice that some days are better than others. Just when I am getting worried by supply picks back up. You are doing great with breastfeeding!
Good Luck~
