Feminine Sweating

I am sure that this is probably due at least in part to my weight gain over the last 10 years, since I never had this problem when I was thinner and in my 20's. Currently, I have a gross and embarrassing problem of an excessive amount of sweat in my bottom area. I am basically hourglass shaped, but with a little extra weight on me, and perhaps a little bottom heavy, with a bigger bottom and thighs. I find that my bum and inner thigh area become profusely sweaty in hot weather, sometimes causing me embarrassing wetness in my pants. It's awful. If I've sat in a hot car, God forbid on dark leather seats, I'm doomed. Walking around in the heat will cause it too. I also deal with under boob sweat. This I don't have a real hard time camoflauging, becasue I always have my bra, which soaks up some of the wetness, and I alwasy wear a cami under my shirts, so that helps too.

I know that the longer term answer, most likely, is to lose weight, but in the meantime, I'm wondering whether it would be worth trying a feminine deodorant spray. I'm wondering whether that would even help, being a deodorant instead of an antiperspirant, which is what I actually need. I do use cornstarch powder, and it does help a little, at least initially, but it seems it just doesn't last nearly long enough. I've thought of trying an aerosol deodorant/antiperspirant spray, but just wasn't sure if it would be worth it.

For anyone who understands this problem, is there something that you do that works for you?

I'm interested in any and all suggestions. Thanks, ladies!

(this is a really embarrassing problem...)

So What Happened?

Nikki G - GREAT INFO - Thank you...

I do try not to wear too tight clothes, and I do have my staples that don't show moisture like some others, but I hate resorting to that. I'd prefer to just stay dry. But I know that's probably not going to happen unless I lose some poundage... And I can't do skirts comfortably, because my thighs rub together at the top, and even with cornstarch powder (which helps initially), I inevitably get near instant chaffing, which makes it difficult to keep walking, well, at least without looking like I have a big, fat stick up my @ss... so skirts/sundresses don't really work for me, unless I know I'll be in air conditioning most of the time, in which case, it doesn't really matter what I wear because I don't sweat like that in air conditioning. I have tried wearing the little body shapers under longer dresses/skirts, and that works ok, but I can't wear those under everything...

Well I'm perimenopausal, so, yeah, I'm not as fresh as a 25 yr old daisy anymore either.

(Fortunately, my guy is 55 and growing hair out his ears, so it all evens out, tehehe)

I just use a swipe of regular deodorant on very hot days, under my breasts and between my thighs (bottom area). I have friends who do the same thing.

Yes, you know what the long-term solution is here, but in the meantime a girlfriend of mine uses actual deodorant (stick kind) on her inner thighs and under her buns and boobs. The whole purpose of it is to minimize wetness and odor, no matter which part of your body!

I've been overweight my whole life so I know a bit about this. :) Believe it or not, I wear tighter fitting clothes, not looser. I have found that the looser the clothes, the more likely my skin is to rub against other skin, which causes MORE sweating, not less. I usually choose pants that have some stretch, are a bit tighter in the butt/crotch/upper thigh area, and loose on the rest of my leg. This also 'cinches' me in in those areas which REALLY reduces the sweating. Also, never, and I do mean never, go with 100% synthetic fabrics, that makes the sweating exponentially worse. Either 100% cotton, or cotton blends. I also wear a panty liner (I've found that Always is the best), and that soaks up some of the moisture. In mid-summer when it's really hot (I'm in TX, btw, I've got it BAD), I keep a change of panties in my purse.

Certain types of fabrics show sweat more than others, and certain colors do as well. Wear flowy clothing, like I love long or knee high skirts (hides my super whiteness too, LOL). Don't wear shoes if you can help it; covering your feet heightens your core body temp. If it gets worse, go to your doc... there are medicines out there that ritard your sebaceous glands from going into overdrive.

All that being said, I think it's your nerves ;) FOUR MORE DAYS!! :)

I do special events and work with lots of brides, We spray them down with deodorant. I have them lift their boobs, and then they spray between their legs with panties on.. Those dresses and petticoats in the heat and humidity down here are terrible..

Wear a nice feminine pad to capture the moisture also..

Use a deodorant soap on these areas (never use this on your face).

A nice powder will help, but the deodorant will limit the moisture.

Hey mama! You got some great advice. I sweat alot, everywhere! We can be with a group of people and ill have allready sweated my makeup off and of course, im the only one! Even when I wasn't fat I still sweated bad. I would go with the stick deodorant and see if it helps. Just wanted to let you know you aren't alone!

I have had the same issue as an excercise instructor (especially when i taught cycling) and recently with my daughter's school i had a really embarrasing incident... i was chaperoning a bus trip (school bus) in August and I wore my tighter shorts- and i had to stay outside while we waited for kids and then sat in bus for 30 mins or so- not airconditoned and I had a major wet spot in the butt/ crotch area of my pants- very emabarrassing. i do know that if I had planned better
-I would have worn loser shorts or a skirt!
-& darker shorts!

There are some materials out there that don't show sweat as much _ I have some awesome stretchy bamboo workout pants I love b/c I can sweat a ton in them & no one can tell!!!
And why not try the antiperspirant?
Good luck!

I only sweat like that at night while TRYING to get a night's sleep, stupid menopause!
I always just get up and re-powder myself, but I know that doesnt last long enough to get you through an entire day nor would it stop moisture from showing up on your clothing in precarious, embarrassing places.
I think maybe a stick of antiperspirant would be the thing to try.. maybe some of that Certain Dry they've been over advertising lately? Just swipe it on and see what happens. I think the stick would work better than the spray. Now that I've mentioned it, I may try that tonight before I go to bed and see if my "Secret" will help eliminate some of the moisture. I get it between and under the boobs, the inner thighs and under the butt cheeks and the back of my neck. I hate it.
The feminine sprays are probably way over priced, a generic antiperspirant will probably work at a much lesser cost.

Whenever I wear a skirt, I always put baby powder on both of my inner thighs, which works for me to keep chaffing at bay. I also keep an extra pair of underpants handy at all times (although, that is more because I have zero bladder control these days! LOL :))

Try antiperspirant, same one you use up top (it also prevents shaving rash down there) Wear cotton panties, maybe boyshorts for better absorbtion, use powder on thighs. I hate sweating & have always been very sweaty :(

This may sound crazy, but what helped me most with awful sweating was to STOP using heavy-duty anti-perspirant filled with aluminum (check your ingredients). It took a couple of weeks to see positive results but then I noticed that I was not sweating nearly as much!

As I understand it, sweating is your body's way of detoxing. So I would look at my diet and self-care products, and get all of those as organic as possible. It also helps me tremendously to cut sugar (but don't replace with synthetic sweeteners).

This is just my personal experience - I'm not a health care professional of any sort. You may want to seek out an integrative physician and get your hormones checked, etc. Some integrative MD's think one of the main reasons we see so much obesity now is because that is where our body stores toxins (and extra calories too obviously).

Good luck. I can really empathize.

I do get boob sweat because I have an ample amount of them. I think I have issues of sweat more with sweat along the bikini line. The one thing that I think that you should do is to make sure that you wear cotton underware. As far as sweating when you drive in the car I would may be put a towel on the car seat. I have lost some weight and that has cut down on the sweat but it all takes time. make sure to drink lots of water because staying hydrated will help keep your body cooled down and you will sweat less. no need to be embarassed. not every one is a size 4. best of luck
