I don't know of a support group but our youngest set of twin grandsons had those for awhile and so far are free of them for 'almost' a year now. It's very traumatic, I was babysitting them when one of the twins had the first seizure. Our daughter did well but soon after they started her husband was deployed and it was a very hard time for us, mainly the mother being alone. I just wanted to say that they should outgrow them by the age of 5 we were told. So far they are okay now at almost 3 years old. I can see how a support group would be helpful. Does your child have fevers often? My daughter took the twins to the allergist at the suggestion of the doctor and he gave them a shot for their immunity and that seemed to be the beginning of getting over them. Before that one of the boys was in the hospital overnight after having 3 seizures like your child did. So scary. The thing is to not get fevers I guess. You might check on the immunity issue. I hope you can find a support group.
Our son had febrile seizures. It can be rough...especially when they are sick. I remember sleeping on the floor in his room and set an alarm for every two hours to alternate tylenol and mortin, to keep the fever at bay. It's how fast the temperature rises or falls that causes it, not how high the temperature. He was more likely to have seizures when it was bacterial, I don't know why.. that was his pattern. We haven't had one in over 18 months. :) Most kids outgrow by the time they are 5. Good luck! Feel free to message me if you need support or some one to communicate with.
Frebrile sz are very common. Kids are ussualy diagnosed in the er. The cause of a true febrile sz is the raising or lowering of the body temp suddenly. When your child has fever make sure you never put them in a cold bath ( this will triger a sz). At the first sign their temp is rising give tylenol and then ibprofen, (check with doctor). You can put them in a cool bath just slightly cool to your hand but never cold. Some doctors believe sz are just the brain reseting itself like a computer rebooting. I am sure you have talked to the doctor and made sure they r just febrile sz and not because of head injury or epilepsy. Make sure you get your kido into to the dr as soon as his/her temp starts to rise so you can find the cause and treat it with antibiotics if needed. Hope this helps.
Hi--
I don't know of any support groups. Do they know why he's having seizures? It's a common reaction to vaccinations because of the heavy metals. You might think about getting him a blood test for heavy metals. I have a friend who can help (she's a biochemist). If it is in fact heavy metals then there are things you can do to clear his system, and therefore stop the seizures. However, if it's epilepsy that's a whole different ball of worms. Although, even still I bet she could help you. She's in Denver. Let me know if you'd like the information!! Hang in there and good luck!
