Right now I use Shout spray for general grimminess but I need something good and not too pricey for: spaghetti sauce, watermelon juice, chocolate, grass and mud....you get the picture. What do you use that works really well to get out the really tough stuff? I also have the bad habit of only doing the kids laundry once a week and not treating stains till I'm doing laundry, I know I know if I treated it right away then it would come out easier, BUT the products I have used in the past say not to let them dry, and I can't justify washing just one or two outfits every other day....I also find that a can of foam or gel stick get used in like a month! Is that just the way it is with kids clothes? Right now I am easily spending $10-$12 a month on stain removers, not counting detergent. Which just seems a lot to me...

So What Happened?

So I went shopping this morning and bought Resolve Spray n Wash, I figured it was the easiest switch to start with b/c it comes in the same bottles and formulations as what I had been using...I am definatly going to try the fels-nepath soap bar and the dreft, I just have to wait to order online... and then I will go from there! Thank you so much!

I use Goop hand cleaner in the car section of most dollar stores. Rub it in with a toothbrush right before washing and any stain will be gone after the wash.

You are living my life:) I use Dreft stain remover under these same circumstances with wonderful results. A bottle lasts me 2-4 months.

While the machine's filling, I wet the stain area, spray about 4-6 squirts, scrub the stain area against the fabric (keep stain in middle of scrub area, don't fold with stain in middle of fold for optimal friction) and then throw it at the top of the load while it's filling... and there you go (most times anyway...) :)

Go Mama go!

Your life will change when you use Spray n Wash with Resolve. Its in a green spray bottle, around 2 bucks usually, and I drench the stains with it, and they ALWAYS come out. I haven't had it not work yet, and I have been using it religiously for 2 years. The best part, I don't do anything (like rub or scrub) but spray it on the stain 5 minutes or less before I throw it in the washer. I have used it on fresh stains and on week old stains. Go buy it :)

My grandmother-in-law gave me a bar of this shortly after my husband and I married. She suggested you keep it in a jar with water. When you have a nasty stain, just take a little of the soapy water and put it on your stain, work it through the fabric and then run through a regular wash cycle. (Whenever I get around to the laundry. I haven't noticed a problem with letting the soap dry into the fabric, you may just want to use the extra soak cycle to make sure it gets out in the wash.)

I have been using the same bar for nearly five years now and it has a lot of life left in it after years of a messy husband (with a bbq wings addiction) and a baby boy with many explosive diapers and a tendancy to wipe his mouth on his clothes. It has saved many an item of clothing.

I switched recently from Shout to OxyClean and it works so much better! I'm amazed. Everything I've tried to get out with it has come out with no problem. They have a spray bottle.

After reading your post more carefully, I would suggest not leaving the spray on the clothes. I usually rinse the stuff out right away (same day at least), but I've had several things that sat for days and when I treated it with the OxyClean just before washing, it still came out, so it's worth a shot! I don't necessarily run a wash load for the stained clothes. I just rinse them with the spray and scrub out the stain, then rinse the spray stuff out and let it dry, then throw it in the laundry with the other clothes.

It's a competitor of Shout, but I've always used Spray and Wash (now called Resolve ) on our clothes with great success. It gets out what you mentioned above.

I share your frustration...one remedy I have found that works on most of my baby stains is liquid Ivory Snow detergent...rub it in and let it sit a while and then wash it in the detergent. Give it a try, good luck!

Grass and all other greasy stains ( spaghetti sauce, chocolate) : Take a soft toothbrush, dip it into Ammonia and gently work the stain, rinse in cool water and repeat untill the stain has lifted. Then launder as usul.

Homemade stain paste ( I keep it in a Tupperware thingy) : Colorsafe Powered bleach mixed with liquid detergent. Apply on stain and let set over night and then launder as usual. This takes out Mustard stains like a charm.

Stain Soak: 1/4 of Colorsafe Beach Powder, 1/4 liquid deterned and a gallon of hot water...this works great on formular stains, great for whites nd light colored clothes that could be whiter and brighter and fruit stains. Let sit overnight and then launder as usual.

I switched from Shout to OxyClean about 4 months ago, and I'm in love with OxyClean. Shout never seemed to do the trick for me. I have also found that even if I don't treat the stain immediately OxyClean will still get it out.

I use Oxy Clean powder. I have a bucket that I use to soak the clothes. Depending on the stains, it might take a day or two, but I've left clothes soaking for even longer with no harm done to them. The only thing I've had trouble with is the tomato stains, but I discovered Kids and Pets (sold at Target) works great on those. Kids n Pets is an enzyme cleaner found in the carpet cleaning section. You can use it on clothes too. It cleans vomit, blood, grease, tomato, chocolate, urine, feces, etc. I LOVE it.

I use Fels-Naptha. It's been around literally for 100 years. It comes in a bar and it only costs a couple dollars. It's a pretty big bar! I even use it to treat carpet stains.
I don't know if you'd want to leave it on darker clothes if you only wash once a week, I mean, it doesn't necessarily bleach things, but I've never left it on that long.

You should try it.
It works great for us on just about everything.

Oh I swear by and so does everyone I have bought it for.. Oxyclean Laundry Stain remover.. It is the BEST on stains.. It is a spray and when it contacts blood, other body stuff it literally bubbles it out.. My nana had a stain in clothes for a while and used it and it came out.. Months after it happened and was washed and dried. The only thing I have had a hard time getting out with it is pen.. But dirt (red mud cause we live in Alabama), grass and so forth not a problem.. Even red koolaid. Good Luck and I hope it works just as good for you! BTW it gets out the HARD TO GET OUT nursing baby poop stains.. Bubbles those out too! That is what sold me originally~!
