I got my1 year old a little jet ski shaped floaty with little handles and leg holes, but she doesn't like being put in it! The swimsuits with the floaty padding in the top look like they might squish her little chest, but Im thinkin that might be the best. What are yalls favorite floaty for babies? For yourself? Thanks for reading!

I'm not sure what A.C's experience was with the swim sweater, but we loved ours. It was perfect to let him swim around on his on own, gave him plenty of freedom and kept him above water well. I hated how the life jackets and things made him so confined, and restricted a lot of his movement.

Hi,

We got a pool when my daughter was 21 months. We went through several kinds of floating aids and finally found that the kind that work for us were Safe T. Seal Power Swimr - Swimways (see toysrus.com) or similar products. It slips over the swimsuit and has a front and back panels of floating material elastic cords down the sides for a secure fit and a crotch strap. It's thin enough that the baby can "swim" and bouyant enough to support her weight securely.

The swim suits with the float in them are amazing... I absolutely love and trust the one i have for my daughter and she loves it to because it gives her the freedom to move as she pleases rather than to be bound to a float...She feels like one of the big kids.

When my son was a bit younger than your daughter, I got him a Swimways Spring Float, which I LOVED because of the support. It doesn't look fancy or supportive, but it really is. My son was able to sit in it before he was even crawling. You can find them at Target, or keep your eyes open at garage sales (that's where we found mine).

I also recommend staying away from those with tubes attached to swimsuits or swim tops. http://www.swimways.com/swim-sweater-p-20.aspx They may be great for older kids (my son is 16 months), but we tried one with my son, and not only was he able to slip through the tube (making it pointless), but he would roll so that he face was in the water as well (it didn't keep his face above water the way I had hoped). I would love to hear what people have to say about those swimsuits with the floaties in the top, because that's what we're considering next, but I would hate to make the same mistake we made with the Swim Sweaters.

Life Jackets are the best! My kids always dumped themselves out of floaties!
