Favorite Covered Litter Box?

I have a CleverCat box - it's like a tall rubber tub (kind of like ones you'd store stuff in your garage in, but a little smaller) with a flat lid that has a hole in it. So they get up on top and climb down into it. I love it - we have very little mess around the litter box these days. One complaint - I purchased the liners, but my cats tend to scratch apart the bag when they cover their messes, so I should replace the bag well before I'm ready to replace the litter. Maybe if I cleaned it more often so they didn't have to scrape so much to cover the mess I'd have more success...

I've tried all types of litter box and I'll never buy another kind again!

We use the Omega Paw self-cleaning litter box. You can find it on Amazon.com. We love it! It's my daughters' job to clean the litter box and this couldn't be quicker or easier. No more whining about doing it. We've had it for a couple of years now and it still works great. Our cat still gets litter on the carpet where she exits, but it's minimal.

We use the Van Ness CP-6 cat pan with hood enclosure. We took the door off but it still works awesome (try with the door if your cat will use it). I like this box because the lid locks on so the cats cannot knock it off when they scratch on the sides.

We got one from PetSmart (just typical big box pet store) that looks like a rubber trash can with a lid on it, and the lid has a hole for the cat to enter/exit through. It looks kind of odd, but it is really great. Plus the lid has grooves so it sort of serves as a mat when they get out.

We have one from Walmart that was the largest one they had. We do not use the little door it came with, I don't think my cats would like it very much. In front of one box we use a plastic car mat with groves/ridges and the other has an out door mat with texture, both are great at catching the litter when they come out of the box and much cheaper than the ones made for litterboxes at the pet store. I would say about 95% of the litter that comes our of the box is caught by the mats.

I used to never have an issue with my cats (2) making a mess or going outside the box. When we moved in with some family a few years ago though, one of my cats started spraying all over the sides of the box; making me get a taller one. then when they jumped out, litter would get everywhere, so I bought the cover with the door.... then he would spray all over the sides (sometimes even getting the top!), and b/c they are larger cats, their tails would then 'wipe' all over the sides of the cover...and yes, in his pee..... So, they stunk, and I was mad. I ended up getting a box that is a tub with a lid that has a circular 'hole' on top. They have to jump in and also out, but most of the litter stays in or on top of the lid. It is real easy to wipe down whenever my cat sprays. (I've seen them at petco and neighborhood pet stores). I haven't had much luck with finding a good litter though; they all work but sometimes you can't cover that smell. I'm going to try the pine stuff though... never tried that.
Be glad your cat covers her business.... mine stopped doing that when we moved into our house and it is very annoying!

We use a corner kitty box, but put a mat underneath it (kinda like a door mat) so when they leave they "wipe" their feet. Kinda silly sounding but it helps.
