Favorite Board Games for Preschoolers?

My son got the game "The Wonder Forge Dr Seuss Super Stretchy ABCs" for his 3rd birthday. He is a little young for all the rules but still loves it!!

We play the ones that you already listed but my 4 yr old son's favorite is Trouble. He doesn't need any help playing and it's fun for his dad and I to play as well.

My niece and nephew love this one where they build a bug...I think it's called cootie or something. They also like this memory game called critter in the candy that my sister found at a yard sale, I'm not sure if they still make that one but I bet they have similar memory games.

Max the Cat. It's a cooperative game. SO much fun. You can find it on line. You will LOVE it.

Honestly, my daughter at that age LOVED to play Monopoly and Life. Sure, I had to deal with all the money, but it was great for teaching her counting on to add small numbers with dice, and she liked the idea of buying property and Life, of course, you get to stick little peg people in little cars!

We also like the fishing games that you have to catch the fish as they circle around the thing. Also, there's a game...maybe it's called Guess Who? Where you each have a board with lots of little pictures of people, and you each pick a card to decide which one is "yours" and then you try to guess who the other is by process of elimination (i.e. does your person have glasses? Blonde hair? etc) and that one is great for critical thinking.

My daughter is almost 5 but has been playing the following since she turned 4; Life (she has learned quickly how to play and requests it weekly), Guess Who, Cariboo, I Spy Eagle Eye Jr, Alpha-Bus, Various memory games, Sequence, and Master Mind (this is still a little over her head but she loves the challange & playing it). Ok I know these are not board games but a hit for us; Giant Spoons, GoFish, Uno, and Various puzzles.

There are a lot of great board games for preschoolers made by the German company HABA. They come with instructions in English, and they're fairly easy to learn. My son really likes his "My First Orchard" game, as well as "The Crafty Badger" and "Drachen-Stark" (the German name, I can't remember what it's called in English). All of the games are educational and fun, and "My First Orchard" is actually a cooperative game--kids get to learn to work together to beat the raven in the game. You can find the games on HABA's website, but we bought them all through Amazon.com.

Clue Jr., Monopoly Jr., and Guess Who are lots of fun. You can even try Uno at this age, but he'll probably still need some help.

It's not a board game, but Hullaballoo is a really fun movement game for preschoolers. My 3-year-old will sometimes pull it out to play on his own, and my 6- and 7-year-olds like to join him, too.

I purchased this game on clearance at Kroger and my kids can't get enough of it!
It's like a mix between Twister and another ABC Dora game that we have (where they have to follow the letters).

FYI, instead of letting my very competitive kids play against each other, we play together against Thing 1 and Thing 2. So they either win together or lose together.

The brand "Think Fun"... which you can find at Barnes & Nobel or Amazon is GREAT!

It makes the mind think and is creative and great at teaching problem solving/abstract thinking.

My daughter received Zingo for her 3rd b-day and it was a huge hit with her and our 5 year old. She can play it on her own or we can all play together.

Our favorites are memory/ matching games.

You have to try the Ladybug Game. My boys loved it and they still ask to play it. Easy for a young kid to do but still fun for older kids/adults. It was actually invented by a first grader.

A fav at our house right now is LRC (left, right, center). It's sooooo simple, helps to learn left and right and dad and I don't get bored! It's with the card games at walmart/target. Very fun!
