Floor lamps come in pieces. Try opening box before you call to complain.
I hardly ever oder online, I ordered a floor lamp and a table lamp just showed up. I'm in the process of confirming what I ordered but I think it is their mistake What can I say when I call to get them to fix this with out me having to get to the post office and pay return shipping etc.???? help please! I want to be one of those insistent but polite people that aren't screaming but get the problem fixed at the company's expense not mine,
should I open the box even if it is super small and says table tamp on it???
wow guess I was wound a little tight this afternoon. I freaked an ran to mamapedia before I stopped and checked.
so first I checked my order which was an ordeal since for somereason it doesn't recognize my password and I had to reset it again. My printed copy of the orderd and my online account history showed the floor lamp.
I called and got a human thank the Lord! she told me to open it, a little snarky I might add. but apparently it was just a wrong label and it really was my floor lamp in very very small pieces.
phew crisis averted but wowie

Snarky customer service people over the phone can cure you from every ordering online again. One time I was trying to place an order and it was obvious that I was a huge inconvenience to the woman on the phone. I told her that I was sorry that I disturbed her and I'd call another time. That seemed to shock her out of her rudeness and she wanted me to continue with my order, but I told her that I would rather work with someone who actually liked selling things... I felt better when I hung up.
I hope you have a better experience the next time you do this. By the way, could you put the lamp together alright?
Eh, you were stressed, it happens.
Check your email confirmation of the order and see where the mistake was. If it truly was their mistake, then act nicely for them to look at the order and fix it. If it was your mistake, then simply ask them about their return process and send it back.
i'm glad to see it worked out!
most places really want you to be satisfied with your purchase, and keep your business. the UPS badly screwed up an order of mine last week. the business emailed me a return label, which i printed out. i still have to take it to UPS but i have 30 days to do so.

Just call the customer service number. Most places will send you a label to return an item even if you ordered wrong. IF you have a problem, ask for a manager. When you call, just tell the rep that you received your item but it is not what you believe you ordered. Most places are now no hassle and the rep should be able to help you.
No, don't open the box. Call them up and, if it was their mistake, ask them to provide you with a return shipping label so they pay the postage. If it was your mistake, ask about how to return on your dime.
