For those of you who have good fashion sense: What kind of casual but stylish "shoes" (besides heels) go with wide leg jeans? I find myself in narrow legs and boots all winter and fall (and whenever I can get away with it, it's my favorite thing to wear) and then for summer I switch to sandals (all heights) which work fine with wider legs or narrow legs, but on a day when it's not sandal or boot weather, what "shoes" (not sneakers!!!) do you wear with wide leg jeans for those days you need a closed toe and can't swing heels for a full day of errands with kids?....it's the proportion of a little shoe down there with wide leg that throws me off. Can it be done? I've tried looking around at people, but we're in sort of a style vacuum.

Your thoughts?
***Ok I forgot to say I was considering "wedges" to be heels..do you guys mean "low wedges?" (hmm, good idea!) I basically want to replace sneakers for active days..

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies!! I agree ballet flats look cute on people...but I was hoping for some other options because I'm tall with substantial hips and small feet....so I feel really weird (in my mind anyway) with teensy tiny little flats....but maybe I need to open my mind and try the ballet look....thanks for all help and ideas!

Same, ballet flats or chuck Taylors! For a smaller foot, I also have a pair of pointy toe flats that I adore, got them at Payless too! Momma L's suggestion was good too..come to think of it my favorite ballet flats have a cute flowery type thing on top. And another pair with a bow, and a buckle..

I wear ballerina flats with wide-leg jeans all the time. Either that, or I have Converse sneakers that I will wear also. (I know you said to replace sneakers, but Chuck Taylors are not really the same as a running shoe type look.) Although I will say, I am 6' tall, so the proportions or a flat shoe and wide leg pant work for me. I'm unsure how it would be if you are very petite - maybe it would look fine.

wedges

I just bought these a month ago - NO need to break them in, no rubbing blisters or anything like that - WONDERUL spring/summer shoes and they are very low and easily feel like tennis shoes - they are well padded on the sole.

I love those jeans, they're so forgiving! I personally like to pair them with flats, (bright colored, or ballerina style) or you can try wedges since they're usually very long and will be able to cover most of the wedge.

Ballet flats if the jeans are short
wedges if they are long ( not closed toe but worth it)

A wedge is great. Choose a close toed one with a lower, wide heel for the best support, so they aren't too high. Also, ballerina flats, they do have some with slight wedges, or you can stay flat. I usually have to wear mine with a cushion insert b/c they aren't always comfortable.

*** Because you are taller, and to balance a thin shoe, look for ballet flats with some substance, like a wider toe area, ruffles, a bow, a chunky buckle...

I live in my ballet flats and Toms when I'm home (well they are fake Toms - didn't see a reason to spend that much on shoes for wearing around the house). I saw your response on the ballet flats. I have the same issue so I look for ballet flats with a tiny wedge heal and ones with a little more structure and support (not sure if they are actually ballet flats then). They seem to not make my feet look so wide.

Second the flats but also curious if you've ever tried clogs? I have been reluctant to wear my Dansko clogs with my leg jeans but have been seeing it more and looks okay so I started too. Clogs are def. "bigger" than flats so you could be less worried about the tiny look ;) Clogs aren't the most feminine but sooo comfy.
