I'm driving myself crazy, looking at wedding dresses online, trying to come up with ideas. I have NO knowledge of fashion terminology whatsoever, so it's making it very hard to find an image online of what's in my head! I want a tight, form fitting dress that, um, 'puffs' out at the bottom (puff isn't the right word, I just don't want it tight around my ankles, if that makes sense). Strapless, lace, with probably a ribbon (instead of a belt) at my waist... does this kind of style have a name?! I thought it was kind of vintage, until I googled that and the results were WAY off base. I just want one freaking picture of what's in my head!! HELP!

The dress bottom is called trumpet or mermaid style. So you may want to look up strapless, trumpet style, lace dress. You may want to add 'fitted waist' or ribbon waist.
Some sites also understand terms like '1920's style' or old/classic Hollywood style.

I think you will like this dress from this featured wedding, all it needs is a sash, but you can buy sashes separately. Tthis is what she says about it, "My dress is a Cymbeline dress. I had it altered into a mermaid fit by having the torso extended and tucked and had part of the train cut off and sewn to make the dress a one shoulder.":

I got married 6 years ago... I think it was called a "princess shape?' but I don't recall exactly. A princess dress is full at the bottom but not very full, like a ballroom gown can be.
Google "fishtail wedding dress" and see if that's what you're looking for...
I think that would be a "mermaid" style...or even a "trumpet"?
