Family Resort Northern Minnesota: Any Suggestions?

I am looking for a family resort up North in Minnesota (3 kids under 5) to visit for a long weekend early Fall. I want to be in the main lodge or cabin. Good food at the resort is a must. Price isn't a major issue. Grand View Lodge is an option but main lodge and cabins aren't available on the web for dates needed. Any suggestions?

I've never been there but heard it's really nice. Has lots to offer. It was recommended to us but we farm and haven't been able to get away.

We started going to Breezy Point in the early 80s when I was in grade school and thought it was great. We took several years off and recently starting going again annually. I have NOT been impressed at all. The main lodge is old and outdated. The staff is less than helpful. When they have concerts or entertainment on the weekends, the place turns into a dump.....garbage, beer bottles, condom wrappers, cigarette butts EVERYWHERE....and it takes them all day the next day to clean up.

It's the only place that I have taken my kids (now 4 and 2) but without kids I've stayed at Sugar Lake Lodge (in Grand Rapids) and Giants Ridge (in Biwabik) which were both quite nice (and beautiful). I know there are so many more places to stay up north. I do love the Nisswa/Cross Lake area, but if you go there, I would suggest somewhere other than Breezy Point.

Good luck!

I don't have any memories about the food, as it has been so many years since we've been there, but we used to go to the Breezy Pointe Resorts, which are about 3 hrs from the Twin Cities. There are lots of great restaurants both in Breezy Pointe and Cross Lake which is about 10 miles away. I LOOOOVE that area. You'll never run out of things to do and it is so memorable!

We have enjoyed the newer part of Breezy Point's resort--the inn and suites, as they have a salt-cholrinated indoor pool. They've redone their restaurant, too, and it's really nice & has good food, plus lots of other good food options in the area. We also have really liked Grand Superior Lodge just north of Duluth, if that area is an option to you.
