Hello
We are spending a week in VA beach with some friends from Texas. She has 2 boys-5 and 2.5 . I have twin 4 year old boys. I have been to VA beach for a weekend with my husband but not for a week with kids and not with out of towners. Just looking for some ideas that you can recommend so we can mix it up from walking along the boardwalk every night. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

we were just there and are going again soon. We went to the aquarium. My kids loved it! We were only there for the weekend though and were staying with family so that was really the only thing we had time for. But it was fun!

HI, C.:

Remember these are small children. They won't have the stamina like the adults. It will be hot and sand is gritty stuck on their little bodies. Do you have a nanny to help you or will you cope by yourself. If your friend is coming in from Texas, you will be helping the children adjust to each other.
I live in Portsmouth. Write me if you need any help.
Good luck..

Hi - I live in Va Beach and love it. If you are looking for something to get you away from the beach for free Mt. Trashmore (I know strange name) has a wonderful playground for kids that age. It is right off the interstate and easy to find. I have 4 and 6 year old boys and they love the new playground. Also, there are playgrounds on the beach at 1st, 10th and 31st street, so you don't have to necessarily walk the boardwalk at night. My kids can spend hours there. There's a few good mini golf places, check out the ones on Pacific Ave (one block over from the oceanfront) I think around 22nd St. There's a Jungle Golf one and a Pirates themed one.
If you are looking for something to do away from the beach one day, the zoo in Norfolk is not that far and not to expensive. It has a little (little) train ride that goes around that the kids enjoy. The aquarium down by the beach is also really nice - plan to spend some time there if you go though.
Just fyi, if you are staying in Sandbridge you have a little drive to get to the resort area of Va Beach.
