Ok ladies, an embarrassing question. Recently, I have had some crazy lip hair. I have it waxed every 2 weeks but could actually use it more often. What could be going on? Has anyone tried electolysis? If so, can you share your story. I have some other stray hairs on my chin but nothing like my lip hair. HELP HELP HELP

I did electrolysis on my eyebrows in the 80's - it took multiple session to clear my "unibrow", but once I was done it has never come back. This was before the existence of laser hair removal, but I know lasers don't work on all kinds of hair, whereas the "old fashioned" electrolysis that I had worked on any kind of hair. Good luck!

If you have it waxed you will probably make the hairs darker and stronger over time.

Electrolysis works. It usually takes a few treatments. Make sure they do the "blend" technique, it works better. Laser electrolysis is best on thicker, darker hair, so get the needle type.

I only get a few stray hairs on my face and i pluck them, I agree with the person who said she plucks a few each day to keep them at bay. I do this with my eyebrows. As i'm putting on my makeup i pluck a few on each side each day and it no longer hurts and I don't have to pay for repeated waxing or wait for them to grow long enough to wax again.

Well have you always had it or did it just start coming? If you just started getting hair on your face it could be hormones but if you always had it then if might just be bad genes :( I am half Hispanic so I got the bad genes :( So this is what I do. when I was like in 8th grade and first started to get hair on my upper lip I just started plucking it. At first it hurt so bad and took a while to get all the hair but over the years it has gotten a lot better. it doesn't hurt at all and not all the hair even grows back now. I have a magnified mirror and so every day I put my makeup on I just pluck a few hairs out and because I do it every day there isn't a ton of hair there is like 10 or something.....it takes like 10 seconds to do it. I never liked waxing cause you have to wait until all the hair grows back long enough to do it all again and by then it is totally noticeable. So you could just try plucking.

Hair growth is related to hormones. An increase could indicate a hormone in balance. I would suggest seeing a doctor who knows about Bioidentical hormone replacement. You may not need HRT right now, but doctors who specialize in that area know there is more to interpreting lab results, then just making sure the levels are with in limits. IF your hormones are in balance, then I would suggest you see an anestitician about having laser hair removal done.

I have some hair laser removed on my face. It's at my local dermatoligist, call around to find some in your town. It's called GentleLASE. I go every 5 weeks. I've seen signifiacant improvement and a great reduction in the amount of hair. It only works on darker hair on lighter skin. If you have very dark skin, this might not be an option for you, and same if it is very light hair. The laser goes towards things that are dark, so thus it works for me. Good luck!

Honestly, I'd go and get your hormone levels checked at the doc's. Hormones cause the growth of facial hair. I know that for me personally, when I'm not pregnant/on birth control I get facial hair--when I am pregnant or on birth control pills I don't! So if this hair production is a sudden change (which is what it sounds like), you might want to get it checked out!

Also, be aware that even if your hormone levels fall in the "normal" range, they may not be normal for *you*, so be sure to address and stress that with your doc as well when you are looking at options.

Check with your doctor to see if you could have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), I have it myself - I believe the statistics are that 10% of women have it - and what it is is a hormone imbalance where your body produces too much testosterone causing (among other things) hair in unusual places. Good luck!

I have read that it is a myth that shaving causes the hair to come back in more coarse. I got tired of dipilitories and the red lip after. I learned from another friend that she shaves it EVERY day. Not because she HAd to shave each day but because she wanted to. Now I do it too. Easy, simple, quick right after using my moistuizer. I use a magnifying mirror and it costs me nothing to do away with the unwanted hair!!!

I started sprouting an occasional chin hair once peri menapause started. Mine are very light colored and don't show much, but I pluck them and they stay away for awhile. If the hair on your lip is dark, you might be able to use laser hair removal. A few sessions and you could be hair free for quite awhile.
