Looking for recommendations on a rountine and products for an 8 year old girl, including if I should introduce moisturizer at this age? Or if you know a good web-site that fields these types of questions

When I started needing to really start paying attention to my skin (around puberty time) my mom bought me a bar of Clinique face soap. It came in it's own soap dish - (this one):

She told me to wash in the am and the pm so I kept it near the bathroom sink and just got in the habit of doing it. Don't know if it was the soap or good genetics, but I didn't have an acne problem in high school. I didn't moisturize or use any toners or anything - just washed twice a day. The bar was pretty big if I remember correctly, and lasted a pretty long time.

Good job having her start taking care of her skin early! The "Good for You Girls" face care line is excellent and very low on toxicity on the Environmental Working Group's cosmetics database. You can find all of the products at Drugstore.com. If you order at least $25 worth of products, they ship for free. I discovered this after our daughter was born and I wasn't able to leave the house very often.

At this age I believe simply washing with a good mild soap and water are all she should need. If she has some sort of skin problem, I would ask her doctor before using anything else, but if her skin is normal healthy 8 year old skin, I think using a lot of other things might just start problems she doesn't need.

How about just cleanser and water? Also, I would advise moisturizer. I had really dry skin as a kid (and now adult). I'm curious as to why you're concerned about "routine and products" at 8 years old? She's 8, not 18, and I'm assuming isn't wearing any makeup. Just keeping her skin clean should be perfect.

Our 11yr old boy (is made to) wash his face every night. He started getting blackheads and little pimples. We use the Walmart version of Clearasil face wash. If he misses a day we can instantly tell a difference.
