I have a 5, almost 6 mo. old child. I was wondering is there any fabric softner you can use with their clothes? Or do you just not need it?

What can I do next?

Hi L.,

If you're using Dreft you shouldn't need it. :o)

I don't use fabric softner because it makes clothing flammable. I got a pair of plastic dryer balls from Walgreens (they're also available at Bed, Bath, & Beyond).

Fabric softner can cause a host of reactions on new babies skin. Sometimes you can experiment and find it doesn't give a reaction but then they will develop an allergy to it later in life.

I use either "Dreft" or "ALL for babies" it has an angent in it that works nearly like a liquid softner. (This is why cloth diaper mom's don't use these on their cloth diapers, the cloth diapers can't have ANY frabric softner).

I'd recommend waiting until at least 18 months to use it. They really don't need it. I've never seen static cling on a baby. Peter did have one blanket I'd wash in one of my loads with 1/3 of the normal amount of fabric softner I usually use, because it would get static-y.

Congrats on your new little man!!
