I know some older women who have gotten subtle eyeliner tattoos. they Love them and say they wish they'd done it ten years earlier.
I am 31 and thinking about it.
Has anyone done it?
What do you think?

What can I do next?

I would NEVER do that. A it seriously looks tacky. I can always tell when women have had it done, and it's never done right and when it fades, it looks ever WORSE!!!!! What if they messed up horribly on you?? That's a chance I would NEVER take.

I've never known anyone who did it, but the idea of pointed objects anywhere near my eyes gives me the willies.

My aunt had it done and it looks amazing. Go to a reputable place. I'm getting mine done I just got pregnant so I have to wait until december. It's NOT permanent as the skin on your eyelid gets exfoliated crazy style. I'd recommend not getting your bottom done as it's harder to get that line perfect. You cannot compare tattooed eyeliner to eyebrows, lips or any other type of tattoo. You do not get this done in a tattoo shop (most of the time anyway) there are many permanent cosmetic professionals in spas and hair salons. The only downside I've ever heard was my aunt being allergic to the cream that you put on afterward, and she's allergic to everything. I already have my appointment scheduled for the end of december :).

I definitely want to get it done when I'm older. (I'm 21 now.) I don't have the finances to spend on something like that, but I will do it when I have enough money to get it done well. The people who said the only time they have seen it, it was done badly...that is most likely because when you have seen it done well, you didn't know it was permanent cosmetics! : D The only time you can tell it is a tattoo is when it's done unprofessionally. You have to do a bit of work/research when deciding on where to go for ANY permanent or semi-permanent body modification/enhancement. You wouldn't go to some back ally guy who charges $100 for a boob job would you?? No, you'd do your research and find out who's the best. If you do that, I think you'll be very happy with the results.

My mom (50) got her eyeliner and eyebrows done, and they look fabulous! She has very light skin and hair, and the permenant makeup artist did such a great job on her eyebrows! What a bummer for the people who say it always looks horrendous... Just do some serious shopping around, and make sure you see the artists work before you decide to get it done :)

Hi KR. I am a 62 year old pretty gutsy grandma with a tattoo that I got from my family for my 59th birthday. It is on my leg. I am not against tattoos but I would NEVER have my eyes done. No way to turn back if something goes wrong or if you decide later in life that it is not what you wanted to continue with. I would also be very concerned with something going wrong with my eyes. It's not like you could cover it up. If you are determined to go ahead with it, I would ask some of the people that you have seen and admire the job that was done for them who they went to. Good luck. Hope you are happy with the results if you go through with it.

I got it done a couple years ago and LOVE it! I hate putting eyeliner on so it's great for me. I just did a very thin line 'cause I was worried about it being too much but I'm going to get it redone thicker.

My mom had it about 10 years ago when she was in her 60s. She can't see too well to put on eyeliner so she had it done. It was very subtle and just done on the top. It looked great. It has since faded but you can still see it.

I would love to get it done. Just a little - cause you can always add more.

I say go for it.

we were just talking about this at easter. my aunt (mid 40's) and grandmother (80's) both have done make up tattoos. they both regret it. my grandmother has her eyebrows and lips done. she said the lips were awful and painful. her eyebrows look like she penciled them on. not natural at all. my aunt did her eyes and they look like make up also. i cannot tell if she put makeup on top of the tattoos or not. she said she had no idea it would hurt. then i explained what a tattoo was ( a needle poking ink into your skin over and over dot by dot) she did not realize how they worked. i am wondering if these makeup tattoos bleed like regular tattoos. they both said they would have to go back and have them done again as they fade.

I have seen a lot...the ones where you can obviously tell are the bad ones. The one's you don't even think twice about and just make a comment in your head like "wow her eyeliner looks good!" might just be a tattoo, ya never know. =)
No one ever knew my friend Stacey had her's done. It was a thin black line, just on her top eyelids...perfect for everyday wear. Just make sure you do your homework!

BEST THING I EVER DID FOR MYSELF!!!!!!!
I had my eyeliner done about 3 years ago, and it's fabulous!! People are always shocked when I tell them, because you cannot tell it's a tattoo. One friend said, "I wondered why your makeup always looked perfect even early in the morning!" I just got a thin kind of natural line... I can always add more when we're going out at night. It is wonderful!! Now I don't look sleepy all the time. I just put on some lip gloss, and I'm ready to go!

I do agree with some of the other posts here... I think the eyebrows are way too fake looking. And I don't like the lip liner, because sometimes I just wear clear gloss, so that would look funny...

Now my mom and sister both want to have it done, because they love mine...

My friend does permanent makeup. She is highly trained and does beautiful work. I am petrified of doing something like that on my eyelid, but I am just paranoid about my eyes! :)

I had mine done 4 years ago and I love it. You will need touch-ups done once in a while because it fades over time. Would I do it again? Absolutely. I still put on eyeliner when I go out and want to get darker results. I wear contacts and I took them off during the session. My eyes were a little puffy afterwards, but I was still able to put my contacts back in later that day. Hope this helps. I would recommend this.

I have never seen the eye liner done but I have seen tattooed eyebrows which do not look good. I am sure it all has to do with your artist. They eyeliner sounds like a cool idea

I have permanent lipcolor, eyeliner and eyebrows since 2005. It was so worth it. Only lips needed a second lining. Even had the puffy Julia Roberts lips for about 1 1/2 weeks and ice and antibiotic ointment were good friends during the healing. I'm 59 and will be 60 this December.
