Sounds like a sty they usually go away by themselves just don't rub it. Being a diabetic you probably should call the Dr. I wouldn't take chances w/ my eyes. My mom was a diabetic type 1.

My mom had that happen, she went to the eye doctor and they gave her some drops to heal it. She still gets them occasionally, and just has to use the drops again.

I would recommend going to the doctor. Have a family member or friend go with you so they can watch your daughter while you are in with the doctor. It may be nothing, but never take a chance on a bump. My son (14 yrs) had a small lump on the side of his neck and I took him in right away. Thank the good Lord that I did. 6 1/2 weeks later they did surgery because it was cancer. I'm sorry to hear about your loss, I miss carriage twins back in 1997 and every May I think about how old they would have been. Take Care and good luck.

Does it feel like there is something hard in it? Is it right under you eyelashes and is not red or irritating in any way? They are called seed somethings I can't remember the exact term. I get them pretty frequently and they are harmless (opthamologist said so). Mine can last for months at a time, then one day it will look a little different (like something wants to come out), maybe itch a little. I'll squeeze it and a little "seed" will come out (this little hard ball). It just works its way out like splinter, so don't try to "pop it." It will just irritate it and could cause an infection if you break the skin. Mine don't normally get very big, about the size of the * sign on the keyboard, so if it's bigger than that you should probably get it checked out.

Hope this helps

Sounds like it could have been a little bite, and now has turn into an infection under the skin. You definitely need an antibiotic if it is red and warm to touch. I would suggest going to a primary care provider or just to a little urgent care clinic. If you don't get an antibiotic it will probably just continue to get bigger! I am a nurse and worked ER so we saw that all of the time!
P.S> Just read you are diabetic which makes you more prone to getting these infections and also harder to heal, so I wouldn't wait on getting on the proper medicine!

Could it be a sty. If it is you can just put a warm moist washcloth on it for 10 min or so at a time. They usually hurt though. I would get it checked out if it doesn't go away in a couple days, especially being diabetic, that can complicate all kinds of health issues.

It looks like you have gotten a lot of good advice here, besides those things I could only suggest this: I scratched the cornea on my eye once when I was young and I got a red reaction that everyone thought was a stye or pink eye, so I think having an eye doctor look at it is the best idea. He can tell you for sure.

I cried when I read what you wrote. I don't know how I would stand losing a baby. I had my daughter when I was 42, she is my miracle. I had no idea I could have a child and had truly given up, thinking that I would never be able to... Every time I look at my daughter I am grateful and I can't imagine my life without her and I also have been afraid to leave her with anyone unless I have no choice and have to get things taken care of... Remember this darling -- You must take care of yourself so you can be there for her always. Don't neglect yourself, she needs you to be healthy and she needs that good example you will set by taking care of things properly. It sounds like you are a wonderful mother. Bless your sweet loving heart. Take her with you if you can or you must, but get yourself to the doctor. And feel better soon. I wish you the best.

My husband had something like you described a while back. I would ask your doctor. But it sounds like something like a chalazion. Google it and see if that sounds like what you have.

Hope this helps

Hello,
I have worked in an eye clinic for the past 5 years. It sounds like a blocked pore, kinda like a pimple. These can be under the eyelid or on the outside. They can become painful and cause vision trouble if they are not tended too. I would first try putting hot compresses on the spot. Do this as often as you can. If you dont see any improvement in the next day or two I would make an appointment with your eye doctor.

It could be lots of different things. I work at a lab dealing only with skin and we get several eyelid biopsies per day. It kind of depends on where it is on your eyelid. If it's on the regular skin of your eyelid, you should see a dermatologist (and if you haven't had a full body check in the past year, you could do both on the same visit). If it's on the inner rim, you may need to see an opthamologist. Any lesion (or bump) that is changing at all should been seen by a physician.

Does the bump itch? It could be a stye or chalazion. Basically that it an inflamed duct or pore on your eyelid (kind of like a pimple.) Eventually they will go away. I am very prone to them. Sometimes they go away within a week or two (more likely a small stye.) However, I have had some bigger (pea to bean size) ones (these are chalazions) that took months (up to 8 or 9) to go away. One thing that helped me is to use eye scrub pads whenever I am cleaning off eye makeup. Since using these, I have very few styes. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

sounds like a stye...they sometimes go away on their own but the easiest way to get rid of it is to go see your eye doctor :)

It sounds like a stye to me. Basically, that's a clogged tear duct or hair follicle or something. There is something available at pharmacies (called "Stye"), but I don't know how useful it really is. When I had a stye, I put a warm, wet rag on the place several times a day, and that helped. It will probably go away even if you don't do anything, but it made me feel better to "do something about it," and it might have actually made it go away a bit faster.

It could be a stye or an abscess (that is basically an infection that can get out of control & may have to be drained)---you should definitely see your doctor as soon as possible, especially since it continues to grow!

Hi Eve,

It is probably what is called a chalazion. Basially a pimple that is not infected BUT you need to go the eye doctor so he can make sure it is not more than that. If it has been there a while it will probably have to be removed by an ophthalmologist. Also being a diabetic you should be having dialated eye exams every year so if it has been over a year you need to go anyway. Take away point, go to the eye doctor.

It is none of my business but your daugther would benefit from spending time with other people and trusting other people besides you. Maybe take this opportunity to leave her for the couple of hours while you get your eyes checked. =)

you'd have to ask a doctor to be sure, but i had a similar thing occur in high school. they called it shalazia(sp?). it happened at the corner of my eyes. doc said it was due to the oil ducts around the eyelashes getting clogged. it didn't hurt, but it did get annoying. try hot compresses, and stop wearing mascara for a while as this can cause or aggravate the issue. if you have any mascara older that 6 months throw it out now, and definitely change after you're done with this. hot compresses and gentle cleaning at the hair follicle (careful not to scratch your eye with that cotton ball). if you must wear mascara wash it off as soon as you get home with a cleaner especially meant to remove eye makeup thouroughly. if the compresses and cleaning don't get it to drain in a few days go in to the doctor, and they will have to drain the swellings for you. it's an out-patient procedure.

Another option is that it may be a skin tag. I have one on my eye and the doctor said it is harmless. If it grew big enough that it bothered me it could be removed. I wouldn't think that a skin tag would get bigger very quickly though-- only over a period of months or years maybe.
