How old is he? It may just be growing pains or a leg that fell asleep. If he just woke up give it some time and see if he can walk on it. I wouldn't jump to conclusions yet.

Some questions first: Has he ever complained of pain in his leg before? Is it mottled or a different color than the other? Swollen? Same temperature? If it's yes to any of the first 3 questions get him to your dr, urgent care or ER immediately!
My son had been complaining of pain in his leg right around thanksgiving, however I didn't take him in since he had an ADHD evaluation scheduled for early december. One day walking to school he colapsed and I rushed him to the drs office....One ultrasound and a CT scan later and he was admitted to the childrens hospital for(of all things) blood clots and PE.
Like Future Hockey Mom said, his leg could have been asleep. But, if it continues, you should definitely call the pediatrician.
like some other moms said here - he probably slept really soundly and now has pins and needles. Assume it'll pass as he moves around this morning. If it doesn't then take him to the doc.
doctor....immediately.
& please keep us updated.
Assuming he is still unable to walk, I would suggest that he might have fluid on his hip. My 3-yr old had this happen. It's like a "cold" in their joints. It definitely needs medical attention though, so that they can rule out a bacterial infection. This type is usually associated with a fever. Call your doc and get him checked out.
My son had a viral infection and it took about 24 hours to get better on its own. He did however have to be kept at the hospital for a testing of the fluid, and for observation. Good luck!
Look for any bruising or swelling and then call your doctor. Not to freak you out, but a friend just had a fundraiser for a little boy whose cancer journey started this way. Extreme pain in joints to where he couldn't get out of bed.
Better to be safe than sorry.
If it does not subside in an hour, to doc immediately.
