I used some visine that I had in the house this morning and after using I found that it had expired. I will say that it is not irritating my eyes however I thought I would ask you moms if I should worry.

Any ideas?

What can I do next?

You're fine. If anything, being expired means that it won't be effective (or as effective) anymore. Don't worry.

There's nothing wrong with it.

Basically, once expired, the company will no longer guarantee the quality of the solution. But that doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with it. When was the expiration date?

It's probably not harmful unless at some point it touched skin or someone's eye and has grown some bacteria, risking an eye infection. It's likely harmless to the point of simply being ineffective.

However, you should NEVER simply trust the advice of people on the internet when it comes to medications that you drip into your eyes. Call your pharmacist at your local CVS or Rite Aid or Brook's.

You should be fine. However many eye products have an expiration date not just because the product may no longer be as effective, but because the longer it is open the greater the chance of bacterial contamination of the product. So I would throw it away.

I wouldn't worry one time but coincidently, my husband's eyes were bugging him a bit. He used drops and then they were really bothering him. He finally looked and his drops were expired. I think by a long time. So in that case, there did seem to be a problem. His eyes were fine when he stopped using them. So one time I wouldn't worry but throw them away based on his experience.

Na. If you used it, aren't having any side effects, you shouldn't worry. BUT I wouldn't continue to use it:)
Better safe than sorry.
