Experiences with Suprep Bowel Prep

I'm having a Colonoscopy on Monday and have to use the Suprep prep tomorrow night. I'm concerned about how I'll feel after taking the prep.
If you'd share what your experiences were like, I'd really appreciate it. My doctor gave me a medication called Zuplenz 4mg to take to prevent nausea prior to starting the prep. If you used Zuplenz, how much did you take and did it prevent nausea? I was given two 4mg films.

Deborah L--thank you for sharing what you thought when you read my question!! Made me laugh!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thankful to have the prep and procedure all over with now for 5 years! Grateful that my procedure was normal.
The worst part was the prep. The stuff I had to take for the prep is horrible tasting. Hard to explain the taste, you just have to try it yourself!! I took anti nausea medicine, which I think really helped. One thing that came to my mind while taking the stuff was how fortunate I am not to be sick like some people when preparing for a colonoscopy, like someone who has cancer.

I don't have an answer for you on this but I just had to share my laugh I had with your question. I read it as "Experiences with Super Bowl prep". Then when I started reading I became concerned the Super Bowl is already coming up!!?! I thought it was in January!!?? And I usually feel nausea AFTER the superbowl rather than before it. LOL

Oh gosh, I should slow down and read better!! Good luck with your Suprep Bowel prep tho ;-)

I've had 2 colonoscopies and DH has had 3. Although the prep meds aren't pleasant to get down, we both find the process to not be as bad as others make it out to be. Yes, you do need to be close to a bathroom for several hours after taking the meds. Other than having to rid yourself of everything, the process isn't painful. It's not like having a virus or anything like that. It's just that everything runs out of you. I've never had any problem with nausea and I'm someone who gets that easily. Never heard of taking anything for nausea for that. Make sure you DRINK plenty of water during the process so you don't dehydrate. Good luck and don't worry - you won't have any memory of the procedure, just a nice rest.

It really helps if the prep is ice cold and be sure they give you a flavor packet. I don't remember having any nausea. I do remember having to be CLOSE to a toilet, cause once it starts, it's like a freakin' fire hose. And be sure and give an accurate weight at the appt. 'cause they base the dose of "twilight" meds on that and you don't want to receive to little. My scale at home was off so my weight wasn't accurate and I was slightly uncomfortable, nothing I couldn't handle, but uncomfortable. It was kind of cool watching the procedure on the monitor. Good Luck!

I tried to do the prep (if this is the one you mix with water and drink half of in 8 oz sets the night before and then get up really early (like 4 am) to finish the other half, but I could not keep it down. I got the first two glasses down and then could not stop vomiting. They ended up rescheduling my appt and having me use Miralax instead. Best of luck!

absolutely take the pill! it helped the nausea tremendously, and that's what would have made it unbearable. you're going to be up and down cleaning yourself out, obviously, and so long as you're mentally prepared for that, it'll be okay. no fun, but bearable.
i took the pills exactly as directed, i believe it was one before i started the suprep and one later on in the evening.
don't skip it!
