Experience with SunShine Kids Carseats/Boosters

Was looking for feedback, both positive and negative, on SunShine Kids Carseats and Boosters. Seems like they are the only brand that will fit 3 across the backseat of a sedan or pickup. Just looking for some opinions, feedback, especially from those using 3 across. Do they really fit? Are your kids comfortable? Safe?

What can I do next?

Sunshine Kids is infamous for making after-market products (ie: products that should never be used in or around carseats) but they make FANTASTIC carseats & boosters!

Their seats are all steel-reinforced & are some of the safest, most well-made seats on the market. And as you said, they are very narrow & will fit 3 accross in even small cars. I have several friends who have their seats & their kids all find them very comfortable. (I have at least 2 friends who have their school-aged kids harnessed in their Radians & they love them!)

We have the Monterey booster to use as a "back up" seat for our daughter (she's 6 but still in a 5 pt full-time) & it's fantastic! Most of my CPST friends use the Monterey for their kids b/c it's one of the safest out there & will grow w/ your child.

Just FYI, you may be able to find some good deals on www.HipMonkey.com if you use the coupon code "20Thanks"--it'll give you 20% off & all of their procedes bennefit the Kyle David Miller Foundation.

Hope that helps!

Ok we do not have them, but was really considering since we have a third on the way and a small car.I have talked to people who did have 3 of them in a row and it fit great. As far as comfort goes they all had mixed reviews with bigger kids(age 5 and up), it was perfectly fine with smaller kids. But most websites will let you return the seat for free if it does not work for you.
What made us change our mind, we wanted our 3 and 5 year olds be in 5 point for as long as they can(well actually till they can drive:)).
They are tall for their age (our 5 year old is 49") and Radian Xtst only goes to 53" in the 5 point ( car seat looked so huge in the demo video so I did not even think about it) So for us I just can't magine spending $300 on the car seat and then needing another one. We decided to go with Britax frontier 85, since it goes to 57" (we will need bigger car though:))
Sunshine car seat are very safe and the only ones that have steal frame inside .

I love the monterey booster seat. We have one in each of our vehicles and plan on getting 2 more when my daughter is old enough. When we are in other vehicles with nephews or neices who are still in booster seats my son looks soo much more protected than they do in their flimsy boosters. I love how the belt positioning is absolutely perfect. The headrest is larger so his head doesn't flop while sleeping. I absolutely recommend the booster seat. We did Britax marathon car seats and loved those but the sunshine kids booster won me over for boosters.

My concern would be room for growth and comfortable fit. We have the Britax Regents for our triplets because they are the widest and largest seats for growth that will last them until age 8 and 80 lbs. If they're so narrow you'll end up buying more again down the road.

I only have one, the Radian 60. And we love it. My daughter (now 3) has been in it since she turned 1. And it's a strong, sturdy seat. It's been on multiple airplane trips with us (one of the few seats approved for use on an airplane), and she's nowhere close to outgrowing it. She's big (tall, very muscular) for her age, and she has wide hips, but she keeps on fitting in it. Would 3 fit together in the back of my car? Yep. They're narrower than other comparable carseats because of the way they're designed (steel frame). I would recommend sunshine kids.

They are AMAZING seats! My friend has three across in her car (one rear facing for her 3yr old, forward facing for her 4 and 6yr olds), and we own a Sunshine Kids Monterey high back booster seat for our 8yr old.

The newer ones rear face to 45lbs! My 8yr old can still be harnessed in them, so they will last a long time.

We too have 3 seats across- 2 Britax and a Sunshine Kids in the middle. My almost 7 year old daughter sits in the Radian 80. She fits well in it, but she is very slim. My 5 year son old can also fit in it comfortably, but he would only fit for maybe another year. They are both 45 pounds. The middle buckle (where the 2 buckles click into) seems a bit short- which is one of the biggest complaints for boys in that seat, but it hasn't been an issue for us. My daughter loves that it sits low like a booster, and I love that she's still in 5-pt harness! We used elitecarseats.com to purchase. Good luck!

I have 2 in my car and could easily fit 3. So great! Love these and only buy this brand after a recommendation from a couple of friends and personal experience. Check out diapers.com and amazon.com for deals. They often heavily discount last year's patterns/fabrics.
