This is our first fall here in america and i am keen not to miss out on the fun. Does anyone know of great things that are going on soon. My husbands parents are going to be visiting from England and we would really like to show them a great time. We have already missed out on some things and we don't want to miss anything else.

What can I do next?

I suggest Stade Dairy Farm as well, and we went to Boo at the Zoo last year too. Don't forget to check your local library and see if they are having a special program or festival.
Also, if you get a chance, pick up a Chicago Parent magazine, or visit them online: www.chicagoparent.com
I recently relocated here myself and I have found LOTS of information about events in Chicago Parent. They even have decent articles most of the time!
Have fun!

Not sure where you are located, but Brookfield Zoo is having Boo at the Zoo this weekend and next weekend where the kiddies can go in costume, be in a costume parade & contest, and get treat bags. There is also a wonder little hands-on children's discovery house thing there that it is easy to spend hours in!

I think Lincoln Park Zoo might also have a Boo at the Zoo thing, but you should call there for more details. I'm sure they will also have something fall-related at Millenium park downtown as well. I know Navy Pier has a children's museum as well, and that way you could also show the in-laws a little bit about downtown.

Have fun!

The Mortum Arboretum in Lisle has amazing programs in the fall and Kuipers in Maple Grove has a fun pumpkin patch/ apple orchard where you can pick your own apples. Have fun and good luck!

I agree on the Morton Arboretum. Wonderful place to see! Also, I just took my family over to Stade's Farm (http://www.stadedairyfarm.com/documents/index.html) last weekend and we had a great time. They've got lots of stuff for the kids - my son loved the trailer maze they have set up!

There is a great family farm that is located in Maple Park. The website is www.kuipersfamilyfarm.com. It really is the cutest place for fall ~ they have pony rides, a corn maze, train rides, a "corn" box for the kids to play in as well as tons of other things. It gets pretty crowded on the weekends so if you can possibly go during the week, that would probably be better.

You should try The Morton Arboretum. I work there and we have have fall color festival going on. We have a beautiful 4 acre children's garden with tons of fun activities for your son, and it is also entertaining for adults as well. There are lots of other activities too, pumpkin carving, the scarecrow trail, the Grimm Maze with live actors. There are also lots of treats that you can buy. We have a restaurant, but there are also food offerings in the Arbor Court area. We have 1700 acres that you can explore and make a day out of. Visit our web site at www.mortonarb.org if you are interested.
