Hi,
I was scheduled to have excision surgery Monday and I was sick so it got postponed. The next time the doctor has available is Oct. 26th. We are supposed to drive home for Thanksgiving 3 weeks later. It is a 10 hour drive. Do you think I would be ready to travel at just 3 weeks post op? What was your experience with your recovery?
Thanks!
H.

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies! I went ahead and scheduled it. Erica A. - did you have the laparascopy with an endometriosis specialist where they excise or cut the endo out or where they burn it off? I've had 2 laps where they burned it off, but I've heard the recovery is longer with excision. Thanks!

A friend of mine (incidentally also named H. :) !!) had this done a few years back and she was pretty well fine within a week or 2, at the most. But like others have said here, have a plan B just in case you're not feeling up to the travel. Everyone is different and responds differently to medical procedures like this.

Blessings to you and I hope this takes care of your endometriosis issues!!

Hi H., many years ago I had a laprascopy (sp?) procedure for my endometriosis. They went in through my belly button and I don't remember anything but some soreness afterwards. If this is what you are having, you should be fine. It only took a few days to feel fine.

You will be so happy when it's done. Good luck!

Go ahead and have the surgery, you will probably be fine to travel. If not, you will have to change your plans, so think about a plan B just in case. Do keep your surgery date however, the sooner the endometriosis is out of there the better.

Yeah, I've looked into the surgery before and even after an appendectomy (which I was told was a harsher recovery) I was fine after a week.. You should be good.
