I am wondering if anyone knows of a place where I can exchange foreign currency?? Some of it is older like FRANC's, etc. I just don't have a clue what to do with it.

I don't know how much you have to exchange, but here's my idea. Our tooth fairy leaves a $1 and a coin from a foreign country after she takes the tooth. We use it as a way to learn about another land and puts emphasis on something positive rather than my children thinking they are going to get rich off losing a tooth.

If you have out of date currency (French Francs for example), you can't exchange them. You can try listing them on ebay.

Call your local bank, they can direct you. Chase Bank does work with and get foreign currency should you need this type of service in the future. I am sure that there are others. Best of luck! S. H

Typically a FEDERAL BANK in the City of Chicago. You might try O'hare. Don't get your heart set that they will exchange the Franc's. You might just have a collectors piece.

A bank should be able to do it but Francs may not be accepted anymore as the replacement with Euros is in place for a long time now. There are a variety of currency exchanges downtown.

Larger branches of banks will exchange (the Chase branch downtown, for example) if you have an account. Or a currency exchange, probably? (I'm sure they charge a lot, though.)

I think that as far as the old currency that has been replaced by euros, I think that you can only use/exchange them in their country of origion. So Fracs=France, etc. Your bank should be able to exchange others for you (they normally want you to have an account with them so they have some sort of recourse if the bills are not accepted for some reason). Have a good day and good luck.

We recently exchanged foreign currency at our local currency exchange.

You can call to see if they'll exchange the Francs. They may have a suggestion.

Otherwise I would contact a local coin shop. They may be interested in purchasing them or they may know where you can exchange them.

I would contact your bank. Most banks use a service to exchange their foreign currency, so they may be able to do it for you. Since it is Francs you may be out of luck because that currency is no longer in use,but I would give it a try. I would also consider how much you have in Francs, the fee to exchange my be more than what the currency is worth.

I use to work for Harris Bank in Schaumburg and the service they used was pretty fair and the fee was reasonable. I would give them a try.

Good Luck!
